Yes, Friday is here, and with it, another week is history. I’m still working to get ready for the launch of Eternal Road – The final stop. The material is ready, and now I have to wait to get the links after I hit publish. I have decided to not do a preorder this time around so I’m trying to time the launch, so there is as little downtime as possible between the go-live and start of the promotions. Don’t we all love to have these problems?
I don’t know about you but when it comes to launching a book, I always get a crick in my neck from worrying about every detail. You would think after six books I would be used to it. Not a chance.
Today’s JohnKu tries to describe how a deadline feels. I hope you all have a great week.

The details so many,
The minutes seemingly few . . .
The neck yells for help.
I often get asked why I put myself through this, and I get some very strange looks when I say I love doing it, even with a pain in the neck!

I’m the same way. My wife calls my pain self- inflicted. (very true) Thanks, Jaye

Oh, John, I’m with you on that! No matter how many books I write and publish, I always get fidgety at this stage. Best of luck! 🙂

Thanks for letting me know. I used to think I was alone in this. 😁 Have a super weekend

I find the KDP processes relatively straightforward and
userauthor-friendly. My bête noire is promotion and publicising. That whole business is so alien to my nature that I end up just putting the books out there and available. If anyone wants to read them, that’s great – if not, thank goodness:(1) I don’t need to make an income from them and
(2) the publishing process is cost-free.

A very good wayy to look at it, Keith. I should probably adopt your attitude. Maybe I will. (Right)

I hear you, John. I’d rather write than launch and promote. Happy Friday!

No crick in the neck, but my anxiety rises. Even without all the promotions, I get really twitchy. Think it’s all about self-doubt here.

We all have self doubt. You are not alone.

So true, dear John! And these worries always appear when they are less necessary. Lucy & Twiggy are enjoying their Friday. Great! Wonderful Friday pleasures at the Twiggy Resort. With Mr. Eel & Flamingo. In cinema. Coming soon. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Rest more to have more powers to pass over another book launching!

Good luck with locking down final details, John. Nervous making to be sure, but I am confident you got this! With Lucy and Twiggy for moral support, you can’t go wrong! 😊

Pretty soon, John. Pretty soon. I suggest medication for that neck. One of two doses a day, beginning at 4:00 this afternoon and continuing through Sunday.

Thanks Doc. I’m going to show this to The Producer as proof of my prescription. 😁

I’m with you. I always worry about this stuff, and any promo I’m going to run. I drive myself crazy, but there doesn’t seem to be a reason why. I’ve had a twinge in my neck lately and no idea why. Maybe you’ve pinpointed the problem.

You need to take two Porters and call me in the morning. 😂

All those details – I write everything in my calendar, so if I lose it….I can’t even allow myself to go there.

Yeek. Don’t even think it. Thanks, Teri. 😁

It’s your attention to details, John, that makes you successful. Maybe not wealthy, but hey, you’re doing this because you love it, aren’t you? And because you can’t NOT do it? Just try to think past this angst and know that soon — very soon — you’ll have another book out in the world for people to enjoy!

I can certainly relate, John. Every book is a new journey. That moment right before clicking the publish button is excrutiating. I love it, though. That’s why we writers have to be a little crazy to do this. Ha, ha. 😉 You have a fun and safe weekend!

Agree with Keith, but would still like some acknowledgements through reviews – particularlly, when the books are given free for a few days… (Forgive the ‘sour grapes’!) Wishing you great success, John…I’ll be one of the first buyers and readers… 🙂

There are so many details to remember, John, and the crick in the neck comes with the territory. Rub some Hemp Balm on it and keep trucking!

Wising you all the best for a great launch, John. As authors we put so much into getting it right. It’s a stressful time, but an exciting one too. I know you’re going to nail it!

I once entertained the foolish notion that I had what it takes to write a book … that I had a book inside me just dying to come out through the tips of my fingers. A few aborted attempts put paid to that notion, and on reading of yours and Roger’s angst at the re-writes, edits, promotions, etc., I think it’s probably for the best! Good luck, John! I hope yours will be a bestseller, and I will absolutely be in line to buy it on Amazon!

I would like that, Jill. At 99¢ you will have invested a third of a Grande.

Wow, I don’t know if I can afford that! 🙄 Sheesh, John … you should be charging at least $19.99!!! You really need a better agent!

Thank you, Dale. Soothing words indeed. I put some horse liniment on it. It’s fine. (except no one will get near me now.)

As with most others, I agree that the stress of publishing a new book is enormous. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a crick in my neck from it, but I have definitely had pains in other portions of my anatomy. 😀 As always, your JohnKu made me smile! Good luck with Eternal Road. I hope it sells millions! 🙂
