Thursday – A Little Personal – Rain on the Plain

Twiggy and Lucy

“You want to play with Cheeseburger Lucy?”

“Um. Looks like a nice day for a nap.”

“Hey, Dad. Lucy won’t play with me.”

“Come on, Lucy, play with your sister.”

“Fine. I have the stinking cheeseburger.”

“You are supposed to run around with it in your mouth, and then I chase you and take it away.”

“Let’s eliminate the middle part. Here take it.”

“How fun is this?”

“How about outside Little Potato?”

“I hear something on the roof.”

“I don’t hear anything. What is it?”

“It’s rain. I can’t believe it. it’s raining out there, Lucy.”

“Looks like the outside has to be postponed.”

“Okay, it’s raining out front. How about out in the back?”

“You are kidding, right? You know when it rains, it’s everywhere.”

“That’s how much you know, Lucy. This is Texas. It could be raining out front and dry in the back. Let’s check.”

“Well?”

“Yeah, it’s raining out back too. That means it will be an all-day deal.

“I’m so glad we have a meteorologist on staff.”

  1. Ha-ha-ha! Their expressions, dear John! Lucy & Twiggy tired of cheeseburgers. They think to become super mega vegans. 🙂 Thanks!

    1. I don’t think these two will embrace the vegan lifestyle, Maria. Died in the wool meat eaters. 😁

      1. Ha-ha-ha! At least they could make a try. For curiosity. 🙂 One carrot day a week makes your fur shiny & thick. 🙂

      2. I tried carrots but for some reason these guys just pulverize them and make a mess. They get pureed pumpkin instead. 😊

😀 Great dialogue, John. Because of your stories, I now check out French bulldogs on YouTube. Always a delight!

  5. It seems Twiggy is full of energy and Lucy is sleepy. I’m with Lucy. Rain makes me sleepy too. That cheeseburger toy is something. I wish I had a real one. Here it’s mostly chicken, chicken, chicken. 🙂 — Suzanne

    1. I actually have turkey burgers since I don’t eat beef. Maybe there is a way to make a chicken cheese burger. have a good one, Suzanne.

      1. Thanks, John. They don’t seem to have turkeys here but there’s plenty of chicken. The best burger I’ve tasted here that was somewhat like in the U.S. was one with a think slice of paneer cheese on it instead of meat. Paneer is a cheese that originated in India. 🙂 — Suzanne

  6. Good thing you’ve got a meteorologist in-house!

Lucy’s dry wit always makes me chuckle. And Twiggy’s exuberance never fails to bring a smile on my face. Thanks for starting my Thursday on such a fun note (as the girls always do). And give them belly rubs from me. 😊

I hope the rain is helping keep those temps down, John.

  9. Therefore Lucy got her choice of the day being a good one for a nap. But I get the feeling Twiggy wouldn’t let that happen.

    1. Twiggy is a pretty good napper when she finally gets run down. I does take a while. Thanks, Frank

  11. These two never fail to elicit a smile, John. So glad you guys are getting some much needed rain. My parents are positively ecstatic.

As for the erratic rain, have experienced it here in Florida as well. Was actually walking down the street one day and came to a ‘curtain of rain,’ so the dogs and I just turned around and returned up the street, remaining completely dry. It was bizarre….

    1. I have seen that too, Lori. I think bizarre is the right word. Thanks. 😁

As for you guys, yay!! Rain is a blessing, I am sure. Of course, that means Twiggy has to find another way to expend her energy… while Dad takes a nap 😉 Right… like Dad ever takes naps…

  24. These are smart dogs, because even here in New England, sometimes it rains in the back and not the front (or vice versa). Mother Nature likes to trick us up. Rain is so needed – we are waiting waiting for it to fall here in drought-y Massachusetts.
