Since we are getting close to Halloween I thought it would be a good idea to check around the neighborhood to see if folks are getting into the spirit. Come on along. Today we are serving hard cider and donuts. We also have Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band playing on the bus.
I hope you enjoyed the tour today. You can stay around and have more cider and listen to the music. Here is a Night Moves video
I may be an old curmudgeon, John, but isn’t it a bit early for Halloween decorations to be up?
Having said that, I’m told that Dolly Parton was singing Christmas songs on British radio yesterday, so perhaps I should be asking why it’s been left so late. š
I think parents are looking for any kind of distracton for their kids. I agree it is a little early but may be the times. Christmas songs? Yeah, way too early. š
Our neighborhood is also coming alive with pumpkins and assorted scariness, but I’ve not seen anything like your inflatable black cat. It definitely tops my list of seasonal fun. š Thanks for the Halloween smiles and Bob Seger’s ballad.
Your neighbors do try to ‘go all out’ for the holidays, but it appears the monsters are not be very cooperative – they keep laying down on the job. š®
Iām not a fan of the inflatables as they to sleep more than theyāre up. I have our fall decorations inside the house and a wreath on the door, so a little boring in comparison to your neighborhood. Thanks for the tour and the great music! Iāve always liked Bob Seger. Roll Me Away is my favorite. Happy Sunday, John.
Thank you, Jill. I have liked Bob since his beginning. The fact that he is from Detroit and so am I may account for that fact. Happy Sunday to you as well. š
There’s a home in my neighborhood that hangs jack-o-lanterns from every tree branch, together with some ghostly skeletons. They’ve done it for years — even after Hurricane Ike’s devastation. It was such a sign of normalcy, and everyone loved it. I was afraid they might not do it this year, but the display is bigger and better than ever. It even held up through our various storms. It’s never too early — a month of smiling at it is worth it.
It is always great to see traditional displays. Especially in times of trouble. I remember how emotional it was to have a halloween parade in Port A after Hurrican Harvey.
Your neighbors’ Halloween decorations are much more sedate than the ones that have gone up in my neck of the woods, which look as though the houses were set upon by vandals.
This is such a fun time of year, what with the change of seasons here and all the different decorations that adorn the front lawns in a prelude to the holiday seasons to come.
They really do. And it’s a rather interesting contrast seeing as how you have some holdovers who find Halloween to be “evil” and so you know it when you pass by their houses and nada. While the next door neighbor has orange lights and a ten foot tall Grim Reaper on the lawn that says “Happy Halloween!” LOL
I’ve noticed a LOT of mostly Fall decorations here — dried corn stalks, bales of hay, pumpkins, and so forth — and the stores have had Halloween decorations and supplies on their shelves for weeks. Guess everybody is ready for the pandemic to go away and let things get back to some measure of normalcy. Loved the donuts, John — thanks!
My daughter-in-law goes all out for Halloween and does a great job of decorating their front yard. Thanks for the Bob Seger song. Just what I needed. His songs are timeless.
Halloween decorations are popping up in our neighborhood too. It shows that people are still going to celebrate even with the limitations of the virus. It gives me hope too. Nice scenes in your area. The deflated ones are a little sad but as you said, they are sleeping on the job. Thanks for the hard cider, donuts and music!
And why are they not masked? š Masks & gloves are obligatory even for ghosts! The irony 2020 is that Halloween is everywhere š Looking forwards to see these creatures lit & in action, dear John!
Thank you!
Great photos and music, John! I started seeing Halloween decorations last month which I thought was a bit too early. Like you said, I’m sure parents want to add some fun for their kids to this very strange year. Loved the cider, too! Cheers! š»š„
Hallowe’en was Mick’s favourite holiday and he went all out on the decorations. Me? Meh. I love to walk around and see what others do,.though. some are so creative!
You’ll have to do another views the week before š
And love me some Bob Seger, any time!
EVIL… I’ll send you an email from my new address… tell you all about it AND give you a heads up on how to still use Classic editor while they keep it a not-so-hidden option…
Gee, I really wish we celebrated Halloween here. I went to the states once in early October and was blown away by all the decorations. Yāall have the spirit!
I wonder how many pumpkins carved into viruses they’ll be or is that just my sick imagination? Maybe Walmart will retail a blow up virus to hang from the door to keep trick n treaters at bay?
I always love seeing Halloween decorations. There’s a house on the way to my gym with decorations starting in July – the grim reaper has a sign giving a countdown to Halloween. Love the owner’s enthusiasm.
What a nice post, I thought about doing something like this as well, go around the neighborhood and take pictures of the houses decorated for Halloween.

I totally agree with you! It’s the same with chocolate Easter bunnies: they appear on the shelves the day after Christmas – or so it seems. š

Good song choice. The deflated decorations have a wicked-witch-after-the-water look going for them.
