“Lucy and Twiggy. We have a special guest with us today.”
“Who has stopped by? Funny I didn’t hear the door bell.”
“It is C.S. Boyack and he has a third book in his “Hat” series. You remember me reading the story of Lizzie and The Hat. to you.”
“I do and remember she played the bass while wearing the Hat.”
“I remember her from that story where a bunch of people got together to defeat an evil person who was trying to infect the world. I loved that story.”
“Yeah that was Viral Blues, Twiggy.”
“So where is he?”
“Right here, Twiggy and he is now going to tell us about his latest. Let’s all sit down and let Craig have the floor.”
Thanks for having me back so soon, John. I always try to have something appropriate for the Halloween season, and it’s time to release that book. It’s called The Ballad of Mrs. Molony, and it’s available on the Kindle store right now. This is part of The Hat Series, and it’s the third book.
Don’t let that series word scare anyone. There are several varieties of series, and this is one where you can read the books out of order without feeling lost. They’re also designed to be short reads, so you can enjoy one on a nice Saturday afternoon.
The shtick is that Lizzie and the hat team up to make one paranormal superhero. The hat has a few magical skills. She has arms and legs that are kind of important, plus the attitude of a true go-getter. Together, they can do amazing things.
This time, the amazing thing is hunting some vampires who’ve abducted a woman. She serves as a kind of milk cow when their hunting comes up short. If Lizzie and the hat can’t find her in time, her outlook is kind of grim.
These vamps were part of the rodeo circuit before they became vicious killers, but that isn’t much of a clue. This leads Lizzie’s cover band to start taking gigs among the country music venues in hopes of spotting them.
This series includes a lot of dark comedy. This time, our heroes have an informant in the form of a different vampire named Kevin. (Nice vampire name.) Kevin has bad teeth to the point of deformity, along with a speech impediment. With the hat being the kind of jerk he is sometimes, he makes fun of Kevin. Lizzie is a modern girl and calls him out on it. It only makes her want to help Kevin more. It turns out the abductee is Kevin’s living sister.
The hat thinks it’s a trap. Lizzie wants to prove him wrong, and help the woman. This allows for a lot of tension between them. I think sometimes they fight each other more than they fight monsters.
If you think a little dark humor, some vampires, and a paranormal monster hunter sound like Halloween to you, pick up The Ballad of Mrs. Molony.
***
Blurb: Lizzie and the hat are back, and this time they’re chasing vampires across a subculture of America. A pair of rodeo cowboys are holding a woman captive to use like a milk cow since they joined the undead.
The person who put them onto the trail is also a vampire, but he has to be the worst vampire in history. Is he really that pitiful, or is he setting a trap for our heroes? Does the woman even exists? Can Lizzie and the hat find her before she also takes up blood sucking?
Follow Lizzie and the hat as they use their cover band to stalk vamps across the country music scene.

Dear John, I suggest you to make a sort of video promotion with Lucy & Twiggy. They are the best advertisers. People don’t trust the human ads, but they will do more to dogs! Thank you for your support in Twitter. It is very helpful for me. 🌹🌹🎉👍

I’m over at John Howell’s place today and playing with his puppers. We’re talking about The Ballad of Mrs. Molony in hopes it makes your Halloween reading list. John is an excellent writer and you might want to check out his offerings while you’re there. He’s a prolific blogger and a good friend. Check out the blog while you’re there. I think it’s one of the best around.

How nice of Lucy and Twiggy to help you welcome Craig with The Ballad of Mrs. Molony, John. I’ve read this darkly funny gem and it’s 5-star from cover to cover. Kevin is one of my favorite characters. I mean seriously…who dreams up a vampire with a speech impediment, LOL! You can always count on Craig for adventure AND fun. Toss in the Hat’s trademark snark, and Mrs. Molony is a winner!
