Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Prompt –

It is Stream of Consciousness Saturday, and here comes Linda Hill carrying what looks like a lawyer’s briefcase.

“Hey, Linda.”

“John.”

“This week’s prompt?”

“Or my lunch.”

“Yeah, I guess that could be.”

“Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “ring.” Use it as a noun, a verb, an adverb, or an adjective…use it any way you’d like. Have fun!”

“Gee, thanks, Linda.”

Well, you heard it from the horses— um, directly from Linda hill. If you would like to have fun with the rest of us, visit Linda’s blog and read how easy it is. Here is the link.

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Nov. 14/2020

Ring by John W.Howell © 2020

“Put a ring on it.”

“What?”

“Nothing, just trying out the prompt.”

“Should have known. Ring, right?”

“Yup. So that was the prompt used as a noun.”

“So now you need to think up an adjective, adverb, and verb.”

“How did you know?”

“Logic. If you decided your use as a noun, then the others followed.”

“You are so smart. You know that?”

“Nice of you to say, but I don’t think that bit of logic took any smarts.”

“I should ring up the Nobel Prize committee and tell them about you.”

“Right.”

“See what I did there? Verb.”

“Someone asleep could see that. How about an adjective?”

“My ears are ringing from the explosion.”

“That’s pretty good. How about an adverb?”

“The only one I can think of is ringingly.”

“Yeah, that is pretty good. I ringingly endorse your Stream of Consciousness post.”

“Does that endorsement come with money?”

“No. I’ll stand you to a beer, though.”

“You ring my bell.”

“Get your key ring. You are driving.”

    RINGINGLY

    “Seriously?”

“Sorry, John. That is incorrect, to you, Karen…RINGINGLY”.

Dunno that I’ll be using ringingly any time in the future. But ya never know!

    1. Not a common use for sure. One comment even suggests it is wrong.

  10. I like that you included ring as an adjective and adverb too. We used similar noun and verb. Good times.

  13. Can you use that word in the pluperfect tense with a hyphenated modifier next Tuesday on a sunny afternoon with three fingers of your favorite beverage in hand whilst contemplating an angel dancing on the head of pin listening to Bo Diddley ? And do try to leave out any dangling participles. However before you leap into that please try to enjoy today’s three fingers. Good one John.

  16. I had a little SOCS reaction to your post. Put a ring on it made me think of Beyonce which made me think of the Glee version and that made me laugh at the memory of the football team bursting into choreography on the field. Thanks for the laughs!

I didn’t get any email notifications today, just knew you’d post something new and wanted to visit. Something’s going on with WP because I haven’t changed any settings. So frustrating. Anyway, have a good weekend!
