Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Lucy – At Loose Ends

Lucy and Twiggy

“What do you say to stop sniffing grass and head for the patio?”

“I think that s a good idea. I’ve read all these messages anyway.”

“The sun feels food even though it’s only 48 degrees.”

“You are so right, Lucy. I can feel it. The patio will be even better.”

“Hey, wait a minute. All these shadows make for a chilly lounge.”

“You are right, Little One. It is downright cold in the shadows.”

“Lucy, you know what to do under any circumstance. What should we do?”

“Well, first off, we need to stay together. It is warmer that way.”

“Aw, you think that it will be warmer for me.”

“Yes, Little One, that was my thought.”

“You are such a good sister. It definitely is warmer under you.”

“This is not going to work long term. We need sunshine.”

“Okay, where do we find it?”

“It is not over there. I think we have to go to the other side of the yard.”

“But you and I love to sit on these loungers and call for the house boy. That part of the yard is way over there.”

“I think the house boy is off today, Twiggy. I think we ought to get started.”

“How about the flower bed. There is a lot of sun here?”

“Remember those stones are too sharp for me. cause I’m so big.”

“Oh yeah. We don’t want to go back to that discussion.”

“Smart girl.”

  1. 48 is chilly for sure. Why is it all the good spots are in the shade? Oh yeah… when it’s 100, that’s what we want.
We’re in a cold spell right now… hovering in the teens… Brrr

    1. I would die in the teens. It’s been 30 year since I lived in the snow country. Brrrrrr.

Let’s just say I have decided NOT to walk to work this week. Brrr – big time!

  2. I can relate to their dilemma. During the winter months, I’m always looking for the sunny spots. Sweet post, John!

    1. Thank you, Maria. When they found the sun it wasn’t all that warm either. They did enjoy it though.

      1. Ha-ha-ha! They must have been surprised, dear John! Therefore, the Twiggy inspection must fly to the Sun to check what’s going on. You know, budgies cannot comprehend what snow is. I remember Gregory’s surprised expression (as much as a parrot’s face might have one) looking through the window at winter time. So, The Sun has its secret doggy meaning for Lucy & Twiggy. 😁😂😂

      2. Great story, Maria. I must not have been paying attention. Your budgie’s name is Gregory?

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Thank you, my dear friend. In fact, there have been three budgies by now. Gregory is the most important, Petya’s friend. 😁

      4. Do I know Petya?

        Liked by 1 person

      5. Yes, of course! 😁😁😁Here is the post about them. Petya is the Russian version of Peter. He is his blue elephant. https://eternamenta.wordpress.com/2017/03/21/kindred-spirits-when-budgie-elephant-become-friends/

      6. I missed that post. No wonder I was in the dark. Okay now I’m caught up. I had a budgie when I was a child. His name was Whiskers and he was blue like Gregory. 😊

      7. So, now you know the point. Gregory was very intelligent & could speak little French. In fact, he asked me to teach him. (Mostly he spoke with sense). And did Whiskers talk much? 😁😁😁

        Liked by 1 person

      8. Whiskers talked a mile a minute. He knew his name and address. He was always surprising me with his chatter. He has been gone for almost 70 years and I still think of him once and a while.

      9. Oh, amazing bird, dear John! I admire with them! Gregory also has passed for 10 years ago, but his story will always remain incredible for me. He could speak little French, declared himself to be a Frenchman & a musketeer, had his friend-elephant. It is impressive. As I have told you I’m writing a book for children about Petya and Gregory’s adventures. At the moment I’m working on the Italian-English version. I delay a bit with the time, but I hope to use the Christmas feasts to make the first draft. Let’s see what will come out. I suppose that you should also mention your smart friend in your writings. He deserves it.

Tell Twiggy Maddie says she might get lost in the snow up here today. 12″ on the ground and it’s not expected to stop for a few hours (and it’s 18 degrees)

    1. They did find sun. OMG I would die in 18 degrees. The foot of snow would have to sit there for a while. I can see your blower at work right now. After all Maddie needs a business run. Keep those ears covered, 🥶

      1. We’ve tromped a path for Maddie. The snow is up to her whatsits and she is less than happy. It’s still snowing, so the blower will have to wait.

      1. We got the northern edge as it passed through. Now we have our own lake effect. We are not getting anything like the east coast is getting. The ground is still warm enough that it self cleaned the pavement. Still have a couple inches on the yard.

  25. Twiggy is NOT still focusing on Lucy’s weight, is she?? I can see where these two would complain about 48-degree weather. They’d really hate it here, where it was 30 this morning! Have they tried curling up in a sunny, south-facing window … inside?!!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. No they both decided calling names wasn’t a good idea. The inside is a second choice. They were out there for over an hour today.
