Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Lucy at Leasure

Twiggy and Lucy

“So Little One. The sun is warm, and we have the day off.”

“What do you mean the day off.”

“There’s no UPS or FedEx deliveries scheduled. No ringing doorbell. No pumas or squirrels. Just peace and quiet.”

“How do you know all this?”

“I keep my ears open. I know when Mom is expecting a delivery. Also, the squirrel is busy down the street. The puma is resting in a chair.”

“You are so wise. I have to admit it is tranquil around here.”

“So let’s drink in the relaxation while we can.”

“Good advice. Seems a little too good to be true, though.”

“Hold on. What the heck was that?”

“I heard it too. See let your guard down, and the monsters invade.”

“What is up in that tree? Whatever it is should not be there.”

“You said that confounded squirrel was down the block.”

“Yeah, but there he is. I guess he’s not good on his word.”

“Word? You made a deal with the squirrel.”

“It’s called diplomacy, Little One. I arranged a cease-fire for the day.”

“Well, it looks like that fell through. I’m going to use some good old-fashioned kick-ass to get some peace.”

“We have him on the run. Maybe we can get back to our day of rest.”

“Mark my words, Lucy. The minute we sit down, some leaf blowing, squirrel loving, package delivering monster will show up.”

      2. We have a sign just above the doorbell that says “Please don’t ring the Doorbell.” The only one that can’t read is the USPS lady. The funny thing is when she rings it she jumps back from the savage attack of the dogs on the glass door. You would think she could put that together. By the way there is no reason to ring it since we never have to sing for anything. 😁

So funny! Nothing quite like a squirrel to get under a dog’s skin. We live in a rural area and leave our back door open so Lulu, our yellow lab, can come and go. When we haven’t seen her in a while, we’ll often find her outside fixated one of the little buggers.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I know how that is. We have taken to calling squirrels “flounder” so she doesn’t get alerted. Thanks, Pete.
