Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Lucy Stay Inside.

Lucy and Twiggy

“How about it, Little One. Want to go outside?”

“Let’s check the temperature first. Hey Dad, what’s the temp outside?”

“Let’s see. Right now, it’s 41 degrees Fahrenheit, which is 5 degrees Celsius. The high today will be 43 F (6.1 C) The low tonight is 34 F (1.1 C). Want to know what the market is doing?”

“No thanks, Dad. We have enough information.”

“Boy, he loves to go on, doesn’t he?”

“Yeah, well, you know how humans are.”

“So back to the original question. Want to go out?”

“You’re kidding, right? It is 41 degrees out there. Nothing good happens in 41 degrees.”

“You know there are dogs all over the world who go out in below zero weather and snow.”

“Yeah, well, they don’t live with me.”

“Should we ask if there is better weather tomorrow, Lucy?”

“We should ask tomorrow. I saw the weather forecast, and it doesn’t look good. Besides, I don’t want to get dad wound up again.”

“So what toy should we play with inside, Little one?”

“I think the tuggy toy is just sitting there waiting for us.”

  1. You all certainly experienced a precipitous drop in temperature yesterday, John! Got a note from my brother in San Antonio and he said it was quite, ahem, bracing. Think the girls have the right idea to stay inside and hold down the couch. Looks quite comfy!😉

The pups are adorable and your imagined dialogue tops the charts. 💗 We’re in the low 20s and house-confined. Everything is covered with ice, and we’re predicted to have the same for another week. Thank goodness for heaters. 🙂

    1. We are getting a week like that as well. One forecast has us at 7 degrees Sunday night. (Lowest temperature ever) Stay warm 😁

  5. 😂😂😂 “I don’t live with them”….oh, Twiggy! It would be hard for her to live in snow & frost! So, The Twiggy resort is looking for a frosty Friday. Brilliant set, dear John!

    1. The Twiggy resort is trying to figure out how to stay warm. We are going to have low temps of -13 C on Sunday. We are not built for this kind of cold. Thank you, Maria. 🥶

      1. Oh…well…Grog, Glinwein, whiskey & hot tea for you & some too warm clothes for the dogs. Indeed -13 for Texas is something extraordinary! 🙄😮😥

      2. It is extraordinary for sure. I like the idea of all those warm drinks. Thank you. 😁

      3. Well…they work, dear John! We use this method to keep heat…however it demands some limits 🙂 Wild fur coats for the dogs would be a great solution as well.😎

  14. I think Twiggy could have been talked into going outside if Lucy would have posed a different question – such as, Do you want to go outside to see if any squirrels have invaded our domain?

    Liked by 2 people

    1. Yes. You are right. In fact, they spotted a squirrel and were out the door in a flash.

  19. I was here for the freezes of ’90 and ’83, and remember them well enough to know I’d prefer to avoid another experience like that. If we avoid ice, we can survive the cold — as long as there are sofas! You’re good for a two-dog night, but if it turns into a three-dog night, Twiggy and Lucy are going to have to work a little harder!

    Liked by 2 people

    1. Hahaha. That is true, Linda. They do quite well for two dogs. Maybe they’ll rise to a three dog level. Thanks. 😁

  20. Poor girls. I feel for them. 41 is so wrong in Texas. I’m glad they have the tuggy toy for inside entertainment. We just had another snowfall (roads are a mess) and there is more coming this weekend, then next Tuesday. If I didn’t have to head to the office, I’d be hibernating inside too. Very smart girls!

  24. It’s strange when I read about how cold it is there at the moment. It’s 4.00 a.m Friday morning here in OZ and already 58 degrees Fahrenheit. We’re looking at a mild day hitting the maximum of around 78 degrees Fahrenheit by lunchtime. I’ll send the girls a postcard to warm them up. 😊

  25. They seem pretty comfy on that couch, John. 41 degrees? Maddie would be all over that. We did the shortest possible walk today Out to the corner and back via the other side of the street. It was 20 degrees, but Maddie really wanted to walk. She didn’t argue when I said I thought we should go home.

  30. John, I saw about that immense traffic pileup on I-35 near Ft. Worth. What a mess! All that ice and cold … in Texas, too. We kind of expect the misery up here, but y’all aren’t used to it. I’m with the girls: stay inside and on that sofa!!
