Thursday – A Little Personal – Lucy and Twiggy Outside.

Twiggy and Lucy

“Looks like a nice day to be outside.”

“Yeah, it does. Not too hot and lots of clouds.”

“I see mom put out some flowers.”

“Yes, Little One, the first of the season.”

“Hey, what’s this. Somebody left a piece of kibble here.”

“I would leave that alone if I were you.”

“Whoa. This has a real bite to it.”

“I told you to leave it alone.”

“I don’t think I ever tasted anything like that before.”

“That’s cause it’s not kibble.”

“What is it then.”

“I suspect it is squirrel poop.”

“I’m glad you are so fast, Lucy.”

“Yeah, why were you chasing me anyway?”

“Calling that kibble squirrel poop. Hey, do you hear that?”

“Whatever it is, you sure picked up speed.”

“We need to get in. There is danger.”

“Hold on, Little One. Mom will open the door.”

“No time, no time, I gotta save us.”

“Okay, Little one. I’m coming to help bark the door open.”

“See, I told you so. A delivery truck for next door.”

“Well, at least it’s not UPS.”

“I wonder if I can bark this one to Tulsa?”

“Easy Little one. Let it rip.”

    1. Thse are cross vines. Unlike most others that I have seen around town these did not die in the freeze. They came through even stronger. Thanks, Pit.

      1. Our Trumpet Vine also survived the freeze.

  4. Whilst it may not be the best thing to pick up and eat, there are worse substances than squirrel droppings. Trevor once managed to find a pellet of mouse poison whilst rummaging around in a barn. Thanks to the quick actions of a vet, he came out of it with no lasting ill-effects. Another hour and it could have been a different story!

    1. Oh my goodness. So glad you got him to the vet in time. We worry because Twiggy puts everything in her mouth. She was actually eating a piece of grass but her expression looked like it was something that didn’t taste very good. I threw in the squirrel poop idea. Thanks, Keith

      1. Both Ulysse and then Eos have had the same attitude. When offered something to eat, they sniff it, lick the air then, if suitable, tentatively take it. The basic message is, “What is this? Will I like it?” and often they’d walk away. Trevor’s thing has invariably been, “Give it to me. If I hate it, I’ll spit it out.” Very rarely (unless there are tablets involved) he’ll spit something out; generally though, not.

      2. Twiggy only takes what she knows. Anything else hits the floor. Lucy wolfs everything including tablets.

    1. Thank you, Pamela. Twiggy’s expression got me laughing. She was munching on a piece of grass but it looked like it was something nasty, so I put in the squirrel poop comment.

It must be a universal dog characteristic – bark at delivery trucks, especially UPS. Chuckled over this one, John. Have a fantastic day!

  13. I need Twiggy and Lucy to help me out. We have LOADS of squirrels and I never really wondered about where their little poop was. Must be all around the yard. Guess I better watch where I walk!

    2. I can answer your question, because I had a pet squirrel. Its poop isn’t at all nasty. It’s little round pellets, about the size of half an English pea.

  26. Squirrel poop? Yuck! Just goes to show Twiggy is still a young’un at heart, picking up everything and trying to eat it. Dallas seemed rather fond of poop in the yard, too. Once they start doing that, it’s hard to break them. Maybe she’ll follow Lucy’s example??

    1. Yeah. She was actually eating a piece of grass. No poop yet. Thanks, Debbie.

    Thank you, dear John!

    1. I think Twiggy does not appreciate the bright yellow color and the size. I think she getsit into her mind that she must defend the household against a formidable foe. Plus they stink of diesel fuel. Thank you, Marie.🌹
