Friday JohnKu – AKA – TGIF

“Hey everyone. Dad put the wrong headline on this post which is now corrected. Also, it is Friday and I couldn’t be happier.”
“Well done, Twiggy. He also posted this photo yesterday.”
“Cut the guy some slack, Lucy. he needed a quick one.”
“Happy Friday.”

Another fast-flying week. I have to wonder if it is just me,, or is the calendar out of control? Reminds me of those old movies where the pages fly off a calendar to show time passing. I personally would like time to take a break and not be in such a hurry to pass us by. Too much to do and too little time.

Inflation worries had the stock market in a tissy on Tuesday and Wednesday. Looks like investors think the latest cost of living numbers will trigger a Federal Reserve increase in interest rates. Given that the Colonial pipeline hack pretty much disrupted transportation for the Eastern half of the country might have driven prices up. Most analysts still maintain that a little correction is a good thing.

The housing market is going nuts. If you are thinking about selling a house,, now is the time. Of course, I always miss the seller’s market when selling and the buyer’s market when buying. My motto is to buy high,, sell low. Right now, I’m not needing to sell.  I’ll wait for a housing collapse before listing my place.

Still working on my WIP. James and Sam still haven’t been able to find Ryan and Eddie (Two missing spirits) They looked for them at an aerodrome in World War I, at Gettysburg in the Civil War, and they just left Hiroshima. The Hiroshima trip was courtesy of Lucifer so you know it was not meant to be uplifting.

Today’s JohnKu talks about the economy. I hope you all have a super weekend.

The ball needs to drop.

Have a Great Weekend and here’s hoping you don’t get to Monday before you’ve enjoyed the weekend.

  2. Housing market is on fire here as well. It’s crazy. And I am in agreement with your assessment of time’s passage, John. Much too rapid. Wishing you a good, slow weekend! ☺️

  3. Nothing wrong with a little correction, so long as peeps are willing to adapt their weekend getaways for Memorial Day. Lots of binge-worthy shows on TV instead . . .

    Happy Friday Boss

  4. I’m about as good as you with the housing market, lols. It’s crazy here too, and Cornwall is, apparently, the new London. Of course, I’m not selling yet. Time is going way too fast. How did we get to the middle of May already? Have a great weekend, John 🙂

    1. Believe me I have no idea how we got to the middle of May. At my age you hate to see stuff rush by but there doesn’t seem to be a way to slow it down. Have a great weekend, Harmony.

  7. You’re not kidding about the time, John. It’s hard to believe we’re about half way through May. I’m hoping we have gasoline by June!

There’s lots of uncertainty these days, which added to the blur of time makes for a perfect storm. Loved your Haiku — the ball definitely needs to drop. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, John, free of all these worries. 😊

  9. These are the things that keep some people awake at night. I think we are staying put in our house, although some of our neighbors are selling for crazy high prices. We’ve seen this before, and those prices are unlikely to hold, and some folks will be stuck.

Good to hear about the WIP. It sounds like I’m going to enjoy this one.

    Have a great weekend, John.

  10. The housing market around here is bonkers. Our neighbors had their house up for sale by owner and we took a peek at the price. We laughed, saying they’d never get that amount – but they did. Have a great weekend, John!

    1. They probably sold it too cheap. 😁

  11. Always get the sense that most of these things are driven by emotions instead of logic. People fear something is going then act in a way that either makes it true or creates a bigger mess.

  12. Yes the housing market is bonkers. I might just revise that to mostly everything is mostly bonkers. A friend of ours was in town trying to look at houses. By the time she got here all of the listings were under contract. You have to buy that house quick or you will not have a place to keep one’s toilet paper dry. And the cost of dialing a psychic friend for the housing market is about to go up too ! It is time to pour three maybe six fingers and sit back to watch where Dorothy and Toto land this time.

  13. Happy Friday, John. I had to chuckle at your motto for buying and selling a house. 🙂 You are right about the economy in comparison to a roulette wheel. Round and round it goes, where it stops, nobody knows. I’m hanging on for the ride.

It sure is a sellers market, even here where no one can get home owners insurance because of fire danger. It tempts us to sell, but retirement is a couple years off. I figure mother nature will decide for us. Happy Friday!

  15. It is absolutely crazy how fast time is spinning! I know April came and went vaguely remember having a birthday in there. I’m thinking that toilet paper analogy is bang on. The closer you get to the end of the roll, the faster that damn thing spins!

As for the housing market… Damnation! Why oh why did I feel the need to sell two years ago? WHY? Of course selling high would have meant buying high too, so. Screw it and accept that it is what it is (gah! I hate that expression!)

Part two sounds like we’ll be globetrotting to all sorts of interesting places. Woot! Keep on writing and enjoy the weekend, wouldja?

  16. The problem is when selling in a market like this, you immediately become a buyer in a market like this. The price is more like, “How much have you got? Plus how much can you borrow?”

  18. Wednesday seemed right to me – how could it be Friday again? And our weather person is counting down the days until hurricane season. Housing market is crazy here too with Portland growing as new industries surrounding us. Your WIP sounds like another great adventure through history. TGIF to you!

  19. I’m with Craig on what happens to sellers when they become buyers in this market. I’ve worked in real estate since 1988 (shhh, about my age!) and there are always ups and downs. As an industry, we’re enjoying the bidding wars, but inventory is low and what goes up must come down. That worries me.
On the plus side, I’m excited about your WIP. Happy Friday, John!

  21. Hi, John! It’s definitely a seller’s market, but if you sell your house you’ll then become a buyer—not good.

  22. No, it’s not your imagination, time really has picked up speed. Here I have yet to get the last of the Christmas decorations put away, and we’re already more than one-third of the way back to Christmas! Might just as well leave them out, now! Well, they’re boxed up and occupying space in my bedroom along with everything else I don’t know what to do with.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the market … it’s been unnaturally high for too long and was due for a bit of a tumble. Past due, actually.

    Have a great weekend!

  23. I listened to an old chap years ago and one thing stuck. When asked for the biggest difference between now and the past he paused then said, ‘it always seems to be breakfast.’ I now understand the constancy of toast as a metric of ageing…

  24. It’s the same up here, with the economy and housing price inflation. I have a scary feeling that so many are one or two interest rate percentage points away from losing their homes.
