Thursday – A Little Personal – Something New in the Yard

Photo of Twiggy looking at a bird feeder

“What the heck is that? Hey Lucy. You see this thing in the tree?”

Twiggy and Lucy

“Lucy? You on the chaise?”

“Okay, this is not funny. LUCY.”

“There you are. I’ve been looking all over for you.”

“I was on the other side, Little One.”

“Come over here. I have to show you something.”

“Man, you move quicker than a squirrel late for lunch.”

“Check it out.”

“Everything looks normal to me.”

“Not over there, Lucy. Over here.”

“Huh. I thought you were seeing the roses for the first time.”

“Look in the tree.”

“What the heck is that?”

“My words exactly. What is it?”

“I have to say I don’t know, Little One. Too high for a dinner dish. Let’s go ask the boss.”

“It’s a bird feeder. Lucy and Twiggy. It is for the birds.”

“I’m still wondering why the birds can’t get their own food. Why do we have to feed them?”

“Tell em, Lucy.”

“Your mom and I like to watch the birds, and like the hummer feeder visits, it is nice to see them. You two should learn to share.”

“As long as the bird feed budget doesn’t take away from the watchdog budget, we are happy to share.”

“Watchdog budget? Hahahaha. I like that.”

  1. Man, those boys sure know their own value, but perhaps they don’t know just how little birds eat.

    1. They don’t mind the birds so we’ll see. I know a squirrel would drive them up the wall. Thanks, Pamela.

  10. Bird feeder isn’t an issue. Wait until the squirrels start to visit it.

    1. I know right? Twiggy and the squirrel have this love/hate thing going. I’m hoping the squirrel finds a way not to hit the ground.

  12. That’s amazing, dear John! The Twiggy Resort has been amazed to learn that birds are the part of the community as well. The bird feeder is very curious. May it attract more good birds & wise dogs. 😁😁😁

      1. True,,,doves are problematic. And what about the watching dogs? Have they protected the Twiggy Resort? 🙂 🙂 🙂

  13. I’m sure the watchdog budget is VERY well padded and then some. The girls have no clue how wondrously spoiled they are–as all pets should be! 🙂

    1. I agree, Mae. They should be in the dark about being spoiled. 😁 Thanks

  16. The girls are only doing their due diligence. They want to be certain the watchdog budget takes precedence. I imagine they see the watchdog budget as defense spending while the bird feed budget is akin to devoting monies to the arts . . .

    1. I think you nailed it. The latter is discretionary in their mind. Thanks, Marc.

  19. They’re going to be in full approval mode when they discover the bird feeder attracts squirrels, too! I’m sure you know this, but if you use a ‘no mess’ mix of peanuts parts and shelled sunflower, the doves won’t be so attracted.

    1. Good idea, Linda. Will have to try the for sure. The squirrel is going to have a field day. I just hope it stays off the ground.

  22. Your girls are so Cute. My girls would go crazy if we had a bird feeder. They bark at and chase anything that moves. No cat is safe, I’m afraid. The other day they saw a small salamander. It was so funny as they had no chance of catching it.

  26. Oh boy — another “something” that’s going to require tending to. Well, good for you, John. Somebody, I guess, should help feed the birds. However, your girls aren’t herding dogs, so they probably won’t mind. Little Monkey would run them off, for sure!

  27. The bird feeder and hummingbird feeder are nice additions. The watchdogs will surely chase any squirrels who think the bird seeds are for them. The flower pots are a nice addition. I don’t remember seeing them.
