Friday is here again. It seems like a very short week. But, wait, that’s because it was. Memorial Day took 20% of the week. Well, that explains it.
Our part of Texas is getting a lot of rain. It looks like it will continue through the weekend. This is totally fine with me since we need it. I did not enjoy the teeth-rattling thunder last night, though. We had a spectacular lightning show to go with the thunder.
The Texas legislature concluded its session for this year. The next time they will meet will be in 2023. After that, they meet starting the first Tuesday in January for 140 days. The governor can call special sessions, but by and large, that’s it for the next 18 months. We like this kind of legislative agenda.

Pretty much. Unlike the feds they are not full- time employees of the state. They have to go back and live under the laws they create.

Love the Haiku…perhaps the people need to govern the government. Hmm…I think we tried that once before. 😁 I ignore it all, too old to march, too skeptical to trust, now I simply pray and find ways to escape into other worlds through books, nature, dreams…. 💗

Big storms here, too, John, and much needed. We are bone dry. As for the TX legislature…didn’t realize they took such breaks. Based on some of their decisions of late, that’s probably safer for all…

Our legislators meet for months but only seem to work in the days just before the session ends. I makes me think they should have shorter but more frequent sessions. Or learn how to work like normal people, but…

Do they get paid when not in session?

They get paid about $600.00 per month all year and then $220.00 per day for the days the legislature is in session. (including any special sessions)so that would be $7,200 + $30,800 = $38,000.

A rainy week for us this week too as you pushed it out of your state toward mine. Summer is gaining ground on us as the heat and humidity is only a few days away. Interesting approach for the legislature. But does that schedule reduce the chances of legislators making an ass of themselves?

We finally got some rain this week also – glad you did also. We’re just hoping the rain holds off in TX next week while moving our son. Hubby’s so excited this apartment is on the first floor – all the others have been second or above, lol.

We are on our last day of rain after a very long stretch. Tomorrow we move into full sun, then highs in the 90s. It’s going to be really hot, but I do miss the sun.

It’s not a bad part time gig.
As for the rain, we had pretty intense thunder storms last night. My cats were looking at me like “Uh, Gramps? You gonna do something about that noise?”

I think that it is best that people in politics work part time and then go back to living under the choices they made.
So glad you got the rain – despite the teeth-rattling thunder! We are expecting a very hot weekend and today we have a weathe warning for thunderstorms starting this afternoon. (Hopefully after I get home from work!)

Our legislature meets every year, and the sessions get longer every year. When I was a kid, Nevada used to convene every other year. We could sure use some of your rain out west. There were thunderstorms last night, but no moisture. 103 degrees yesterday, so the cloud blanket kept it hot all night. Those are the kind of storms that cause big fires.

The poor little olive breathed its last. It is no more. The Magnolia tree will be delivered on July 3rd so we will all look forward to that. Thank you for the positive thoughts about the tree. 😁

Love the johnku 😉 Florida’s legislature meets every year for six weeks unless they or the Governor call a special session. One year I think they had a couple of special sessions … cha-king! I am so glad I no longer work in state government.

Even though we typically get a lot of rain for the year where we live, four of the last five years have been droughts in California. It’s bone dry right now, and I suspect that we’re in for another terrible year of wildfires.

I used to live in Northern California and remember the need for winter rains. If they didn’t come n the winter then for sure they weren’t coming in the summer. Sad thing
