Thursday – A Little Personal – Lucy and Twiggy in Their Backyard

Lucy and Twiggy

“What’s Mom doing?”

“Watering the roses.”

“Why do they need to be watered?”

“Everything needs water to grow, Little One.”

“Is that why Dad puts water on the new tree?”

“Yup. The very reason.”

“It looks like the tree has been watered.”

“I’m so glad you keep your eye on these things.”

“Hey, Lucy. Check out these leaves. I thought with the new turf, we wouldn’t have leaves.”

“The leaves still fall. It doesn’t matter what kind of grass they fall upon.”

“I’m going to go tell Dad he needs to get these things picked up.”

“Good thing you don’t have an opposable thumb.”

“Huh? What is good about that?”

“Dad might hand you a rake and tell you to do it.”

“Okay then. The sun’s out, and maybe I’ll just relax.”

“Better choice, Little One.”

    1. Yes much easier. Since there is no feeding or insect control requirement and that it is permeable it is better for the environment. Thanks, Keith

  3. “Good thing you don’t have an opposable thumb” is the best and funniest sentence of the month. Your dogs win the internet. Love your posts featuring them. And congrats on the new lawn. Looks very sharp. Best, Babsje

    1. She does have an obsession with leaves for some reason. She is like an elephant in terms of remembering too. Thanks, Liz.

  10. So now you’ll be vaccuming the lawn rather than mowing it, huh?

    1. I have a sweeper. One pass and the leaves are gone. The leaves don’t stick like they did in the grass. It would be nice to run the vacuum but there is a sand and anti-microbial mixture that keeps the blades standing up which the vac would suck up too. I enjoyed your humor but thought you would like the facts too. Thanks. 😁

      1. In other words, using a vacuum instead of a sweeper would suck… (I couldn’t resist.)

  14. All that artificial turf and Twiggy still likes the brick to lay on, eh?

    1. She loves the feel of stone and concrete. She will stretch out on the concrete patio and those limestone steps. Even on the real grass she very seldom took a laydown. Also on the grass there were ants who would give her some bites so I think she decided that the stones were better. We’ll see if she can figure out that the ants are gone. Thanks, GP.

  15. Grass looks really good. Do you have to do any maintenance on it?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. No maintenence except in five years we have to add more sand and anti-microbial.(The stuff that makes the blades stand up) It needs washing with a hose now and then to freshen where the dogs go potty. That’s it.

      2. The idea of that eventuality has me thrilled. On top of everything else I had a bad infestation of nutsedge. To control it I had to use a special product which turned the lawn yellow. Plus it could only be used every six months. The nutsedge was back after one month. I know this is too much information, but since I have PLTD (Post lawn trauma disorder) it helps to talk about it. Thanks for listening doc. 😁
