Views of the Neighborhood – Another House Build

We are off to view another home today. We want to look at this one because it is being built next to the runway at the Lakeway airport. It seems like a big joint, so we have to go through it. We are being catered by Tyson’s Tacos of Austin. I figured tacos are good for wandering around a construction site. Our entertainment is not available this week since YouTube is having a tough time allowing for the copying of videos.

Picture of an old time school bus
Let’s get on the bus.
So here we are. As you can see, the outside is pretty much done. A lot of stonework.
Here is another view. Notice the observation area on the second floor.
Here is the three-car garage. You can also get a better idea of the stonework. There are piles of drywall ready to be installed.
The laundry room is right off the garage.
A doggie washing area in the laundry room.
A big living room with sliders on both sides. Through the glass, you can see an outside fireplace.
A double-sided fireplace into an office.
Second bedroom with outside slider.
Out to the patio from the living room.
Big shower in the bedroom ensuite bathroom.
Large island going where all those pipes are located.
The second-floor bath with tub. Those stairs lead to the observation area.
The observation area overlooks the airport.
Second-floor bedroom.
Second-floor ensuite shower.
Well, That’s it. Enjoy the food. I hope you have a great week. If you want to watch a pretty funny video of Toby Keith’s titled “Who’s Your Daddy,” you can click on the link. Sorry, it wouldn’t embed in the post.

  1. Dear John,
a house so near to an airport doesn’t sound right. When one asks estate agents about calculating house prices here they say there are three factors
    location, location, location

    1. Of course if you are crazy about airplanes there is no better location.. Thanks, Klausbernd.

  2. Klausbernd brought up an interesting question. Why would someone purposely build a house so close to the airport?
I’m having trouble waking up today, so I’ll skip the food and just have a coffee with a little Irish to spice it up!!

    1. Given the observation tower I think it may be for a pilot. Coffee and Irish will open the eyes for sure.😁

Tacos sound good any time, even when walking around a construction site. The framed home looks beautiful, but I hope the owners have considered the noise. In our area, the owners of the new homes near the airport are now demanding the flight paths be changed. A little late, don’t you agree? Oh well… In our neighborhood evenings are noisy with cicadas, not much else. Hope your Sunday is perfect. 😊

    1. We have the cicadas too. Since it is a private airport there are few take offs and landings just the right amount for a flight enthusiast. Have a great day, Gwen. Thanks. 😁

  4. I’m with Gwen, tacos are great any time! I’m wondering if a pilot is building the house or maybe a retired pilot? Thanks for the tour, John. Enjoy your Sunday!

    1. I can’t find any info on who the house is being built for, Jill. I think that is a good guess though. 😁

  5. Ditto on the tacos. They’re good anytime.

I can’t imagine living that close to an airport. To each his own, I guess. I do like that observation area.

  11. The house is ginormous! Hope the airport is not terribly busy – I can’t imagine the noise level, but if the owners have plane, it’s convenient. I think I’ll have the migas! With a Dos Equis!

    1. Good choice, Noelle. The planes are small and maybe one or two take offs a day.

    1. Yes. The planes are small so not too much noise. If one is a pilot then each take off and landing will be a treat. Thanks, Dale.

  13. That house is going to be nice. We live 2 miles from BDL, so the airport proximity wouldn’t really bother me. I changed my mind about three times on my way to discovering Fried Egg & Brisket – I can’t pass that up.

    1. No you cant. Have at it. This airport is small planes only. Not too much noise.

  14. I like the double-sided fireplace, as well as the dog washing station. Gee, that would be perfect for one little hooligan who insists his fur coat is wash-and-wear! As for being that close to an airport, well, I’m not feeling it. I can only imagine the noise … especially the rattling dishes in their cabinets! Thanks for letting me tag along, John.

  19. Ahh airports and whisper jets. Or almost whisper jets. Somehow when one passes directly over the conversation pauses for 30 seconds or so. Because when E F Jettin whispers nobody can talk over the elephant in the room. We are about 2.5 miles from Cleveland Hopkins airport. I will follow GP’s example sans roasted beans. It is noon somewhere.

I see that I’m not the only one who lies wandering around inside unfinished homes and wondering about the possibilities. I have a realtor friend who told me the people he was working with wanted out of their offer after realizing the house was located near a regular flight path.

    1. New builds are always wide open until the valuable stuff goes in. Hardly any vandalism. That is basically everywhere not just Texas. 😁
