Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy Gets a New Ball

“What is that thing, Little one?”

“It’s a new ball, and I’m nuts for it.”

“Oh, yeah. I’m coming up to see it.”

“I didn’t think you liked balls.”

“It’s not that I don’t like balls. I just don’t like to play with them too much.”

“So you are not interested in this one?”

“Let’s see. Shaped like a football and little nubs on it. In a word, no.”

“Well, I sure am enjoying it.”

“I can see that. You’re going to be thirsty after all that drool.”

“Comes with the territory. Mmm. This tastes like bacon.”

“You don’t have to run. I’m not fond of rubber bacon.”

“Well, you never know. I should keep my mouth shut.”

“No. I’m glad you told me, but it still doesn’t make a difference. I’ll pass.”

“You are a paragon of self-control for sure.”

“I don’t know about self-control, but a green football is not high on my prey list.”

“I have a hard time resisting it. What a treat.”

“I don’t suppose you are interested in the fact that squirrel is having his way with the acorns, are you?”

“He’ll be there tomorrow. For today it’s the green ball or nothing.”

“I think you might be better off with nothing.”

  4. So Lucy’s taking the high ground but shock, horror, her playmate is ignoring invaders in the garden. There will be tales of bravado around the squiggles campfire tonight. ‘How many acorns were gathered without being caught and run off’.

    1. You would think these two were acorn collectors the way they usually guard them. Twiggy is so enamored with her ball she seems to have lost her guard dog instincts. I think the squirrel got maybe six. It was a crushing blow to Lucy. Thanks, David. Hugs

    1. Lucy is not so keen on ball games. I think her advanced years have caused her to double think chasing a ball. Her hips tend to give her problems after a run. Thanks, Liz.

      1. You’re welcome, John. How old is she? My elderly dog is having hip troubles, too.

  10. Cute! My girls have a basket full of toys and don´t play with any of them. Not sure if they would be interested in a green football. Cuddles for Twiggy and Lucy.

  21. Monkey never met a ball he doesn’t love, so he’d probably be only too happy to wrestle Twiggy for that football! I’m a tad surprised she’s bringing it to Lucy, instead of to her humans though. Monk seems to think my arm is the Energizer Bunny and never tires!

  34. OMG!!! The squirrel is getting away with acorn murder, and all Twiggy wants to do is play ball.
Why doesn’t Lucy teach the squirrel a thing or two? I’m sure Lucy is bigger than the squirrel. At least, I hope she is…unless…It’s a Hallowe’en Zombie Squirrel!

      2. Oh no. What the heck is wrong with people? Canadians aren’t supposed to do stuff like that. Maybe you have an American living in your neighborhood. Thank goodness you weren’t hurt. 😳

      3. I agree, it’s a sad state of affairs.
Canada, in many cultural ways, has always copy-catted America. This is true today.

Last time we 100% broke with the USA was Vietnam. We gave shelter to the draft dodgers.
