Today we are celebrating Earth Day in Lakeway. (It was Friday but we are taking a trip back in the wayback machine) Here is the announcement from the city.
Celebrate Earth Day, The Lake Way on Friday, April 22, 2022 by volunteering to help pick up trash along some of our local roadways and in our area parks. The City of Lakeway will supply trash pickers, safety vests, trash bags and a map for volunteers the day of the event. Volunteers will then team up and head to their designated areas on the map to pick up trash, and then head back to City Hall to receive a special certificate, lunchtime snacks and pick-up some other Earth Day goodies and information. It’s an engaging way to help keep Lakeway beautiful and meet some of your neighbors in the process. We are catered by Brooklyn Breakfast Shop in Austin. Our entertainment is Willie Nelson

I’m betting the crew at City Park gave those slides a test ride.
Good cause. It looks like you had a nice turnout. I’ll have the Classic Bacon, Egg & Cheese On A House Made Bagel – Substitute bacon for sausage, avocado, or brisket – with brisket. It was hard to turn down the avocado, but I feel like brisket is more Texas,

Avocado is only second to brisket in popularity. Good choice, Dan.

John,
Do you live in Lakeway? What’s the population?
Just wonder because our city doesn’t do anything. Boo
It would be nice if they did.
I guess we couldn’t get Willie!
I’d love to do that in some areas up here but I’d get shot more than likely
Have a great time and don’t hurt your back

Yes, I live in Lakeway. It has a population of about 19,000 which is up 9,000 from ten years ago. You could ask if your city would be interested. Yes, you have to leave the couch and go down to City Hall to do that.

That’s a LOT of picker-uppers! I imagine they were expecting lots of volunteers. Looks like a cloudy day but a worthwhile venture. Thanks, Lakeway, for doing your part — and thanks, John, for letting us tag along!

The mayor’s vest reminds me of Mel Brooks in Blazing Saddles where is suit said GOV across the back. They could have at least had one that reads, “World Class Author,” for you.

Not sure my answer went through. I should have had a vest that reads “Slacker Photo Taker.” Love Blazing Saddles

That movie causes me to laugh every time. My vest should read “slacker picture take.r”

Your community is amazing, John! I’m so impressed by the vast number of community service events that your town takes part in. It’s something that all of your citizens should take pride in because I don’t think most places are like that.

Lots of dark black coffee.
Although, I LOVE GLUTEN! I also love Willie.
A wonderful Earth Day idea. Did you gather lots of trash? Did you take any of the freebies?
A wonderful day, all in all.
