Thursday – A Little Personal – Lucy and Twiggy on the Hot Seat

“Well, Lucy looks like another scorcher.”

“Yeah, Little one. It’s going to be a high of 106 today. That’s over 41 C to our metric friends.”

“So we have something in common with those folks in London.”

“Yeah, but unfortunately for them, they usually have a high of about 70 F this time of year. That’s around 21 degrees C.”

“Goodness. We’re used to sitting on Hell’s back porch. Those folks must be suffering.”

“I don’t think these temperatures are very healthy. But, look at us still standing here.”

“I hear you, but who wants to go out there and have to do the hot coal shuffle.”

“Good point, Little one. As for me, I think a nice lay down in the A/C is next on the agenda.”

“Whew. It is hard to catch a breath today.”

“With the humidity, you can add at least 8 degrees to the temperature.”

Aww, that is just insane.  How can we play in this kind of weather?”

“I think we need to take it inside.”

“I’m beginning to wonder about the lack of exercise.”

“There are still walks in the morning and doing a world-class ruckus in the house.”

“And drive the rents crazy in the process.”

“Yeah, the poor things are collateral damage.”

“You coming? Mom’s on her way to the door.”

“Yeah. One more sniff of the air and one more kiss from the sun.”

“You gotta stop reading those poetry blogs.”

  14. Imagining a world class ruckus in the house with A/C and waxing poetic this morning from the girls was a delightful read this morning, John. Stay cool! It’s supposed to be 97 degrees here today. Thankfully with no humidity to speak of! I’ll be inside with A/C too but, right now I’ve got the windows open to enjoy the morning’s cool air.

  17. The girls have the right idea about staying in and staying cool. Sending out a post or two and reading some blogs is just icing on the cake. Ice. Hard to believe in a few months that will most likely be our story. Then again with everywhere heating up, who knows what Winter will bring?

  20. Such talented pooches, you have – that poetic side and all 😉 . And here too, the weather is heavy and hot. We should be getting what we call a humidex facor of 99. You still beat us and that’s okay by me. Our humidity is at 62%. The wind is supposely gusting at 19 mph but that is only a moving of the hot. Blech.
    Stay inside where it’s cool!

  30. It’s only 92° (F) here … I cannot imagine 106° I hope never to have to! I worry most about our UK friends. David tells me it was 40° (C) where he lives in Wales one day last week, and most people there do not have air-conditioning, for it rarely gets hot enough to need it. Take care, my friend … stay cool.

  31. Well I can happily report we are back to the mid 70s today and while we are threatened with some upcoming 80s there are no hyperbolic weather persons on the TV so I think I can cope. Take care ladies and don’t forget the factor 50 on the sun-kissed bits…

    1. Thank you, Mr. Geoff. Our weather people are over the moon with reporting the record breaks each day. Sadly the records are only a few years ago so this is a real trend.🥵

  32. Good time to use one of my fav words to describe the widespread oven style heat, it’s ‘ubiquitous’. Good one, eh? By the way, our Daisy seems to enjoy laying in the sun in the grass. Seems odd that she would especially with a thick coat. Of course, it’s only in the 90s here. Take care of yourselves and your beautiful dogs.

  34. Dear Twiggy and Lucy…we women don’t care for the heat too much. It frizzes our hair, well…fur in your case, though you do keep yours pretty short. I don’t know about you but, I haven’t the slightest appetite, if you don’t count the quart of Ben and Jerrys I’ve been making myself have that is, ya know, to keep up one’s strength. I know you both understand. Ask your dad to get out his blender and make you a coupla milkshakes. Dog need a lift too, tell him.

    1. Dear Miss Susannah. Our dad keeps plenty of cool water available for our hydration needs. We have not lost our appetite even though it is so hot. The idea of Ben and Jerry’s is a good one. I’m thinking a little Cherry Garcia would go well right about now. Every time we ask for something with chocolate in it we get turned down. Seems chocolate is bad for dogs. Those Cherry’s though. Come on they are loaded with vitamin c. We’ll propose this instead of yogurt in the morning. We’ll see what happens. Thank you for the idea and stay cool too. Your friends, Twiggy and Lucy. 😊 arf

      1. You can always ask for frozen yogurt but, it’s just not the same since it’s the polyester of ice cream.

Your dad sure sounds cool, just what a dog needs in this WILL IT EVER END heat. WOOF!

  35. I’m beginning to wonder about the lack of exercise, myself.
Normally, I go for 3 – 4 hour walks looking for street art. Now, in this heat I’m good for a 20 minute walk. Even then I feel weak and dizzy when I get home.
Of course I am worried about my legs atrophying, but it’s that – or blacking out on the sizzling sidewalk, and having people traipse across my legs.

LOL. When I saw the title – LUCY AND TWIGGY ON THE HOT SEAT, I thought “OMG, they are getting heck for doing a “world-class ruckus in the house”. Perhaps they chewed the couch?
