Well, here we are on the last Sunday before Christmas. This means we need to tour the neighborhood to view the holiday decorations. The Producer and I previewed the decorations and selected the final choices. There were nine categories of the display. The tenth is one for you to describe and is at the end of the post. We are doing some hot chocolate on the bus because, believe it or not, it is cold outside. We found some suggested combos for the chocolate, so all the makings are available for you to make your own. Our entertainment is She and Him. (Don’t miss this one)
Menu suggestions.
So get on, and let’s go.
The first category is Best Mailbox Display – Perfect Texas tie-in.
The Second category is the Best Use of a Vehicle.
Next is Best Traditional Display
The Fourth is Best Candy Cane Display. This is the Lakeway police station.
The Fifth is Best Runway Light Display
The Sixth is the Most Overdone Inflatable Display. Can you count them?
The Seventh is The Best Crossover Holiday Display.
The Eighth is The Best Cultural Display.
The Ninth is the Best Completely Over the Top Display.
And finally, here is the one that you choose the category. Just let us know in the comments.
So that is our tour. Time to relax and enjoy the music and hot chocolate. Wishing you a terrific week
The last one? That’s clearly part of the “Waiting for Real Winter to Arrive” display!

Best Snowman Display? Seems like a fairly simple one there. Love the crossover.

People romanticize snow at Christmas time, but I’ve had too many winters and I much rather see decorations somewhere warm and sunny like in your pictures.

We are definitely snow adverse here. We got six inches in 2021 and damn near killed us all. Thanks, Phil.

Lol at the 6 inches. When you watch football and see the Buffalo Bills games where people are throwing snowballs, that’s the area I’m in.

Wonderful as always, John! I loved each picture, but I have to admit, my favorite is the armadillo in the Santa hat! Too cute!! (I’m not even going to try to compete with the caption suggestions for the snowman display. I need more Earl Grey first!)
Thanks for the smiles, and Merry Christmas to ALL!! 😊🎄😊

John,
Nice song. I’m not a fan of dressing up animals but those dogs were very cute.
My son and wife took their kids (4, 6, 7 & 9) on a ride to see lights. Some were just amazing. Check your text. Feel free to share. Amazing.
Merry Christmas !!

Wow! Some of those homes are eye-dazzling. We are the only ones with any decorative lights not on the house (we hung some icicles that drip colors on a tree out front). As for the hot chocolate menu, wow again! Another 1000 calories but so good!

The She & Him video is an absolute classic. If you are wondering where I am later on, I will be at the Hot Cocoa Bar having every single one of those toppings and additions…except the adult beverages because I gotta drive home. Your comment about the six inches of snow in 2021 damn near killing you all made me lol!

Call Uber and go ahead with the adult. You can get your car tomorrow.

Thanks for the hot chocolate w/ a dash of the Bailey’s to warm the insides! Loved the displays, and I have to go with Coldhandboyack’s category for the last one! The pups in the video melted my heart. Thanks for a fun Sunday morning tour, John!

What a fun hot cocoa bar! Love all the decorations, but the crossover may be my favorite. Talk about thinking out of the box, or else being too lazy to take down Halloween. 🙂

They actually do Halloween all year long. So the Christmas stuff is an add-on. Thanks, Jan

These are all great choices. I like the more simple and subtle ones too. I would call the last one Best Lighted Snowmen. Simple, I know. Thanks for the hot chocolate – cold here too! Have a good week, John!

What a clever neighborhood you live in, John! I’ve got to say those decorations are impressive. As for the snowmen, I’ve got nothing (but I find myself wondering where the “Christmas” part of their message went!). The dog video is priceless — getting that many pups to play dress-up and submit to photographs is a talent. Monk doesn’t do dress-up. He doesn’t know what he’s missing!

I LOVE the one with the armadillo. Pure Texas. Incidentally, my husband and I drove around last night to see Christmas lights. We didn’t listen to traditional Christmas music, but a mix of favorite country songs. At one point, we had Jerry Jeff Walker singing Gary P. Nunn’s “London Homesick Blues.” That would have been perfect for the mailbox display!

The best impersonation of the Holy Family by snowpeople. I’ll have plain hot chocolate with a touch of peppermint schnapps…maybe a touch of whipped cream.
