Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Lucy Observe Tree Trimming

“What do you suppose is going on over there?”

“Sounds like a ruckus, Little One. I’ll go look.”

“What is it, Lucy?”

“Hey, this is a limb that fell. Twiggy, come see.”

“It’s a limb, for sure. Do you think we have beavers around here?”

“Beavers? You have to be kidding me. I don’t think so.”

“What else could take a limb off a tree?”

“I’m not sure how it got here, but I’m sure it’s not beavers. If I were to guess, I’d say dad is trimming the hedge.”

“Oh, come on. My beaver story is much better than that.”

“Well, I think your story is not based on facts.”

“Sounds a lot like fiction to me. Anyway, a lone branch in the yard is a mystery.”

“I will admit it doesn’t seem to be logical just laying there.”

“We need to get to the bottom of this.”

“I don’t know. I’m putting my money on dad the cutter.”

“Gives me an idea. Maybe this is good to chew.”

“It certainly is not for chewing. Ech, stop that.”

“I don’t think it tastes so bad. It’s not a bacon-flavored Benebone, but it’s okay. You should try it.”

“Not on your life. Those sticks taste terrible. Especially if they are green.”

“A couple more chews, and I’ll be ready for another branch.”

“Ew. I think I’m going to leave you to it then.”

“Find dad. See if he’s going to cut more.”

    1. Twiggy and the squirrel went round and round yesterday. For whatever reason the squirrel insisted on coming into the yard. Score: squirrel 1 Twiggy 0.

  4. I think I like Twiggy’s story about the beavers. Should we take up a chew toy collection?

    1. Where she came up with beavers is anyone’s guess. She has a mountain of chew toys but has to wait a week because of her dental procedure.

  8. Yup. Mine would chew them up, too. Who’s the beaver now?

    1. Not sure who’s the beaver. Twiggy pulled that out of the air. Too many episodes of Animal Planet I think.

  16. I agree with Twiggy – the beaver story is more exciting and tree trimming. Maybe the beaver could join in with the puma and water buffalo.

  18. A beaver to add to the pumas and water buffaloes? What a great imagination Twiggy has. But if she had a dental procedure, chewing that limb is not good. Once again she ignores Lucy’s wisdom! Belly and ear rubs to both of them!

  23. I like Twiggy’s version, John. Beavers make a better story. Two of our dogs loved to eat sticks. I don’t know what the attraction was, it’s not like we didn’t buy them a gazillion chew toys. Looks like spring has settled in nicely for you.

  25. I’m just happy to hear Twiggy chews on sticks, too! Monkey seems happiest when he’s prancing around with a stick in his mouth, the bigger the better. Why they seem to think they’re edible is beyond me.

    1. Twiggy especially likes the dry thin ones. She loves to break them into small pieces.

      1. Monkey likes all of them, but he seems especially proud when he finds a HUGE one to drag around — which is oh-so-challenging when I’m walking him on his leash!

  42. I think their primal urges are taking over. In India, certain tree twigs are chewed on for keeping teeth clean and healthy. The most popular is ‘neem’ which I think is margosa. Its cheaper, healthier and eco-friendlier.
    Take a hint, dad!
