Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Lucy in the Yard

“So, where are you going?”

“To take a look at this fence that appeared overnight.”

“Oh, brother. Dad puts up that fence so that that annoying dog visitor doesn’t cause you to bark yourself into the ER.”

“I don’t get it.”

He installs the fence when that dog is here so you won’t run on the rocks chasing that dog and hurt yourself.”

“I sort of thought it was a Puma security device. To keep them off the turf.”

“Don’t tell me.”

“Yup, the Puma has caught the scent of the wildebeest. Slowly it turns. Step by step.”

“Okay, so the wildebeest warns the rest of the herd. She lowers her head to make ready to defend her space.

“The Puma is confused and stops. Normally the animals run in fear, but this lone wildebeest is standing her ground.”

“The wildebeest calls to the herd and declares the danger has passed.”

“What do you mean, passed? I’m still a big threat.”

“Not this close to breakfast, you’re not.”

“Good point. I thought that noise was the Puma growling, but now I realize it’s my stomach.”

“The wildebeest makes for the sweet grass and cool water.”

“The Puma decides to make kibble do instead of a nice thick wildebeest steak.”

“Smart cat.”

“Wait, what?”

  5. Love Lucy’s line about barking to the ER … Nonetheless, food rules. But I’ve got a feeling an approaching FedEx truck has the power of interrupting a meal.

    1. The dog is a blue healer and loves to fence fight. Twiggy would never turn down a challenge. She has torn an ACL doing that number. So the fence keeps them apart when the dog visits.

  14. Great upbeat story to read early in the AM. Two questions: once the ‘wildebeests’ have left, is the cleanup on the ‘grass’ easy? I don’t see any stains from wildebeest‘mistakes’. Do you ever take a golf club snd putter around on that turf? Looks perfect for it.

    1. Seven iron chip is great. Putt need power sine the grass is longer than a standard green. Virtual Wildebeest poop leaves no trace. 😁 Thanks, Steve.

  18. I can imagine a dog barking itself into the ER. Sometimes they just seem to be yelling “Hi!” and other times they’re giving a warning, telling someone or something to stay the heck out of their territory. 🙂

  29. Smiling, as always. Hey, breakfast time is crucial – so forget the wildebeests and bring on the kibble (or in my case, yogurt). My granddog is visiting for the week. She only barks at the Amazon/UPS people because she expects treats (they do at HER house). At our house she’s sorely disappointed.
