Views of the Neighborhood – Member Craft Show

I have been doing the Views of the Neighborhood in Lakeway for four years. The odds that each view will be spectacular become less the longer one temps the fickle finger of fate. This week the finger got me. I was excited to go and record the Member Craft Show at the local country club. It just seemed logical that wherever the elite met to play golf, there would be some outstanding results.

I have to say those who displayed their crafts and interests were gracious and lovely. The problem was only four tables were taken. Two were crafts, one a vet and one an author. We are being catered by Barlata of Austin. Our entertainment is Brad Paisley.

Picture of an old time school bus

So let’s get on the bus.

The first exhibitor specializes in self-motivational pieces.

Her table.

Examples of her work.

Self-affirming messages.

Coasters and Palo Santo incense sticks.

A dedicated animal oncologist encouraging early screening of pets.

Pamphlets explaining an early blood test for cancer and other diagnostic aids.

A handmade craft table.

Examples of the items.

Here is the author, Amanda Tice, and her son.

Photo of a lone patron.

A place that is an excellent handcraft exhibit in its own right. So relax and enjoy the music. I hope you have a super week.

  1. That video is very funny! Too bad more folks didn’t turn up for the event but those who were there looked interesting. I loved the motivational quotes and the author even brought her puppy! You can never go wrong with paella.

  3. Great to see, there is always action in the city. Also wonderful that a writer found it’s way to this very interesting exhibition. I only miss the snacks for dogs. Because then there would have been a meeting also with Lucy and Twiggy. 😉 Thanks for sharing the news, John! Enjoy furthermore a nice weekend! xx Michael

  4. Small but enthusiastic group, John. I know you have the author part down well, but did you ask MS Tice about curve modeling? Could be a second layer for you to explore. Sorry. I’ll snag a bowl of paella with saffron rice, chicken, chorizo, shellfish & vegetables.

  9. A smaller group of exhibitions just means more time to spend at each one, right? 😁 That can be good for both the person at the booth and the person stopping by for a visit. (And it looks like it was a beautiful day, too!)

I enjoyed seeing each one, John, and thank you for sharing another view of the neighborhood. 😊

John this is the type of event YOU should have a booth at. Maybe sell some books. Let the producer take the pictures and you could write about it after.

    Great idea, right ?

  16. Regarding the low turnout: Maybe folks thought it was a virtual event. That’s the new world we live in. Face-to-face has become Facetime. 🤷‍♂️

  22. I like the little dog in the photo of the author and her son! I know, that wasn’t part of the exhibit, but for some reason, I gravitate to the pooches. I found one yesterday at the Marshall’s store, and she was so intrigued by me that she nearly yanked her poor dad over!
