Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Lucy Investigate

“Hey, Lucy, come here quick.”

“What’s going on, Little One.”

“I’m not sure myself. All the porch furniture is missing.”

“What the…You are right. The tables and chairs are gone.”

“We haven’t had a mystery like this in a long time.”

“We need to do a little investigating before raising an alarm.”

“Where you going?”

“I see some stuff by the patio.”

“I think I smell a rat.”

“Don’t be silly. There are no rats here.”

“I’m telling you. Something is amiss.”

“Where do you get language like that. Amiss?”

“Well, say what you want. All this equipment spells trouble.”

“I think I remember Dad saying that the house was going to be painted.”

“Someone unknown to us has been walking here.”

“Did you hear what I said about house painting?”

“Yeah, I heard. We need to go and ask about this.”

“That’s the first sensible thing you have said so far.”

“I’m telling you. Someone has been here.”

“I love your obsessive tendencies. Here comes Mom. She’ll straighten it out.”

    1. It has been non-stop. The biggest issue has been the plastic on the windows which only allow ghostly shadows.

  11. Will you be getting a new doorbell sign in fresh matching colors ? You know something catchy that might even work with thoroughly indoctrinated delivery persons. Something like ” Ring doorbell to release the Kraken and seal your doom.” Besides I want to see Twiggy’s reaction to the scent of Kraken…

    1. The power wash guy blew the sign to St Louis so we will have to get a new one. Your suggestion has been submitted to the architectural committee for consideration.

I painted houses in the summers for years while I was working. Last year was the first time I let someone else paint our house. You know, I didn’t miss it all.

    1. That is hard work. I used to do that during the summers in high school. I remember painting a huge metal building roof in August. Thought I was going to die.

      Liked by 1 person

  16. We just had our roof replaced. Twiggy and Lucy would not have liked that. They’d surely be hoarse after the first couple of hours. Hope all goes well with the painting, John. I’m sure you and the producer will enjoy the fresh look. šŸŒž

It’s as though she’s been reading, increasing her vocabulary . I’m going to start using the word amiss. It has a nice ring to it. Lucy and Twiggy are Abbot and Costello, with tales. Harumph šŸ™‚

  31. Yes, something is amister(y).
You girls will note I used the male form of amiss, which did not exist until now.
Anyway, be thankful you are not smelling rats.
We had some trying to invade, without luck, our little yard last summer.
They said it was because of all the restaurants that were allowed to set tables on the sidewalks during 2 covid years, and we live where there are LOTS of restaurants.
Anyway, the sidewalk restaurants are no more.
Nothing like living in the heart of the city!
