I am so pleased that Gwen and I are hosted by Dan Antion today. His blog is a joy to visit. It is a place to relax and take in beautiful photos and at times laugh out loud commentary. When John Howell and Gwen Plano asked for volunteers who were interested in helping them spread the word about the new book they collaborated on, “The Contract – between heaven and earth” I was eager to help. Gwen sent me a reminder; I filed it away under the heading: “For John Gwen” which subsequently made me think of NASA’s Mercury astronauts being described by Barry Kripke on “Big Bang Theory” – I digress…but I wonder if when John and Gwen made this request, they considered who they were asking. Following instructions, coloring inside the lines, doing as I am told and not embellishing the message are none of my strong suits.

Before they regret this decision, I should turn the floor over to John and Gwen. I’ll add one more thought, I’m looking forward to reading this book.

I don’t think the joys of networking can be stressed enough. Too often authors seek and receive advice on writing, editing, publishing, and promotion, but networking gets overlooked in the commotion. And that’s a shame because it’s such a beautiful thing. It lets us build bridges, forge friendships, and share fabulous content with our readers that we and they otherwise may have missed.

For example, it was through networking that I met my guests today (in this case, an online group of like-minded authors). I may have seen them sporadically on friends’ blogs, but I never would have known that John’s wife and I are from the same area and Gwen lives relatively close to me (two hours-ish by car, if you consider that close). I also wouldn’t have known what wonderful people and talented authors they are. And I never would have been able to shine a spotlight on…

Review: ‘His Revenge’ By John W. Howell #thriller #adventure

So, I recently finished reading His Revenge by John W. Howell.  This is the second book of the John Cannon trilogy and you can get a copy right here:

The story does take a little time to get into since it begins with John Cannon recovering from injuries sustained in his previous adventure.  Since it was a temporary eye injury, there was a lot of focus on other senses.  This made for an interesting opener, but I will admit that I did hit a point where I wanted things to move a bit faster.  This was about a chapter before someone hit the action button because the pace really picks up after the first gunshot.  By the way, people really have to stop standing near John Cannon even if they have a bulletproof vest.  I crack a joke here, but the amount of times people next…
