Time by John W. Howell

“Do you have the time?”

“Yeah, I sure do.”

“That’s good. Could you tell me what time it is?”

“Yes I could tell you.”

“Okay. What time is it?”

“Half past six.”

“Thank you. Was it so tough to tell me?”

“No not at all and no need to get huffy.”

“I’m not huffy. I just think I had to go through a lot just for the time.”

“That may be, but I wasn’t the one who didn’t know, now was I?”

“Meaning?”

“Let’s see. My watch not yours. I know and you don’t. I think any amount of fun I have at your expense you have coming.”

“Okay, I see that. Let’s do it another way. You ask me for something.”

“Swell, do you have ten dollars?”

“Sure here.”

“See Ya.”

    I love your posts!!!

BTW …… is accordion playing coming back because of Weird Al? Second post in two days of accordion players (one was Weird Al’s dad posted by Kate C.)

Your are very talented, from my position as a layman. Being an artist, I know little about the standards of writing, but what I have seen from you is very very clever! And well written, from my visual perspective! Thank you. You enrich my life!

Thank you for your kind comment on enrichment. This is what writers live to do. 😊 as to accordion, I needed a time song and this one was from my youth My mom and dad used to sing “slowpoke.”

Clever stuff, John. I think the stream of consciousness writing exercise is a hugely valuable one. When we spend so much of our time scrutinizing every word and phrase, attempting to make it fit, or make it precise, or make it perfect, we lose out on the opportunity for the surprises waiting to be unleashed in our brains.
    Cheers to you!
