Stream of Consciousness Saturday time again This week’s prompt is “Almost” and it can be given an interpretation any way the writer chooses. If you would like to get involved visit Linda Hill’s blog at http://lindaghill.com/2015/05/29/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-may-3015/. Here is my interpretation.
Almost By John W. Howell © 2015
“Jupiter One this is Houston.”
“Go ahead Houston.”
“We have figured out the problem and are almost ready with a solution.”
“Almost sounds good. What is almost?”
“Well, we have everything worked out except how to get you back to earth.”
“Oh, that’s a pretty big almost.”
“Not to worry though. You can still complete the mission you are almost there.”
“Ok, and how does that help?”
“Well, you know the old give one for the Gipper kind of thing.”
“Give one what?”
“Life Colonel.”
“Life Houston? I think you guys need to work a little harder down there.”
“Okay, Colonel. We’ll get back to you. As I said, we almost have a solution.”
“Roger Houston. I heard the almost the first time. Next time I hope the almost turns into we got it. Standing by Jupiter One out.”
“Houston out.”

Well they almost got there John…good fun take on an almost word….

This made me realize that I’ve no idea who Gipper was. Now I do and realized my original guesses were wrong. Football player and not a nickname for Reagan. Hope they get the colonel (one of the strangest English words) home.

Thanks Charles. He will be really pissed if they don’t.

Could be worse. His copilot could be named Hal. 😉

The Colonel has a lot of faith in Houston. He’s too calm for my liking but then he’s a pro, right? Hope Houston shapes up. 😀 😀 😀

Houston don’t have the solution for him to go back… 😮 right?

No they don’t have the solution for him to go to Jupiter and then back. he can turn around but it would be red face for mission control. (damn you would think this is real.)

Funny post. Makes me realize how non-reassuring the word “almost” really is.

Amusing story with an almost happy ending! To paraphrase Yoda, “Do or do not…there is no ‘almost.'” 🙂
