Wednesday Story Day – AKA Hump Day

Hump Day

It is Wednesday Story Time again, and last week we were witness to another moment where we had to wonder about Lucas’ motivation. We have all questioned whether or not he is what he seems to be. Well, now he seems pretty creepy. Let’s go back and see if he continues down this path.

“I said you are fired, and I mean it.”
“Who are you going to get to finish this house.”
“I can find anyone to do it.”
“At the miserable amount you are paying me?”
“You agreed to the wage. In fact, I asked you if you were okay with it.”
“I know I did. I needed the work is why.”
“and now you are out of work again.’
“Aw Mrs. Murphy. I really didn’t mean you were a lustful old cougar. I just said that as a joke.”
“Pretty bad joke calling a woman old.”
“If I had said ‘young cougar’ would you have laughed.”
“I would have thought it a bit more respectful.”
“I can see that. I’m so sorry. Please forgive me.”
“Well. If you promise to mind your manners, I could be persuaded to keep you on.”
“Believe me, Mrs. Murphy. You have been so kind I wouldn’t hurt your feelings for anything. I’ll be good I promise.”
“Well—”
“I promise.”
“Okay, Lucas. I’ll give you one more chance. “
“Thank you, thank you, Mrs. Murphy.”
“Would you like some more tea?”
“No, ma’am. I better get back to work. Time is money you know.”
“I know Lucas. Believe me, I know.”

“Well, you take care. I’ll be out on that ladder.”

“You be careful up there. Don’t want to see you get hurt.”

“Aw  thank you, I will.”

“And Lucas.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“You can take that shirt off. It’s hot out there.”

“Yes, ma’am. Thank you, ma’am.”

Well, that was a bit less threatening at least. After the last par,t I’m going to wonder, though. Garfield is helping I see. 😀 — Suzanne

Hmm. Making irrational, treatening statements, then claiming he didn’t mean it, that it was taken out of context. Sounds familiar. He could go far.

This is so odd…but in a good way. 🙂 What’s the deal with the shirt? I’m laughing at Teagan’s comment.

That got settled rather smoothly, but one never knows with these stories. Is there such a thing as a young cougar?

Not sure myself. I think Mrs. Murphy thinks cougar is a compliment.

I never figured out if it was or not. Seems it could go both ways.

Hmmm, I’m with Garfield…these characters are a bit bipolar or at least half crazy, shirts on or off. 🙂

I’m afraid youth is in the eye of the beholder. To me, a person who is 50, is young. To a teenager, that same person seems ancient. That Lucas certainly is a charmer! Well done, John!

Offended by “old” but not necessarily “cougar” – At least she’s keeping her shirt on. There are too many ways for this to go from here, and I’m not sure any involve painting a house.

The widow is the kind of client you love to hate. One minute she wants one thing, and the next it’s something else. There’s no pleasing this gal, Lucas. Best to get that painting done fast and head back over to Alice’s for more sweet tea!

Lucas just got a lesson in Manners 101. Never call a woman old even if she is. 🙂 But, the widow…well, she seems to be obsessed with Lucas’ shirt staying off. 🙂 Good work, John.
