It is Wednesday Story Day again. Last week we witnessed Alice and Harriet decide to go off to dinner while Lucas wakes up. I think I don’t want to miss this dinner. How about you? Okay, let’s go then.
“What looks good to you?”
“My goodness, this menu is huge.”
“It is isn’t it. I think I’m going to have the Red Snapper.”
“My dear. We are here in the midwest. You think that fish is fresh?”
“I’ll just ask the waiter.”
“Ha ha ha. Alice my dear. What do you think he will say?”
“I guess you are right. I wonder how the lamb is tonight?”
“I think that will be an excellent choice. I’m having the filet.”
“I think a nice Cabernet will go well with both, don’t you?”
“You are speaking my language. I would like a martini before though.”
“My that sounds delicious. I will too.”
“Ladies, have you made up your mind?”
“Yes. We’ll both have a martini to start.”
“Very good. Would you like an appetizer with that?”
“Alice?”
“No, I’m good.”
“Why not bring a little bread with the drinks. We don’t want to get loaded.”
“Yes, ma’am. Have you picked your entrée?”
“Yes Alice will have the lamb, and I will have the filet.”
“Very good, A house salad comes with that.”
“Excellent.”
“I’ll be right back with your drinks.”
“Super. So Alice what are we going to do with our Lucas?”
“I’m not concerned about Lucas. I want to know what we are going to do with each other.”
“That nonsense is over. Oh, look our drinks.”
“Here you are, ladies.”
“Don’t rush the main course. We may have two of these.”
“Yes, ma’am just tell me when you are ready.”
“Here is to you Alice and the hopes you move on.”
“Well here is to you Harriet and I hope you reconsider.”
“My that is good.”
“You took a big enough drink.”
“Aw who cares. I’m going to enjoy this dinner. That gin sure warms the heart doesn’t it?”
“He he he. It does. I would slow down a little.”
“Tastes So good. Let’s have another. Oh boy.”
“Harriet shush. You are too loud.”
“Now what were you saying about moving on and reconsider?”
“I just think you and I were happy once and it’s not too late to be happy again.”
“Hmm. This olive is fantastic. I don’t like this chair. I’m moving next to you. You mind?”
“N-no not at all. I love having you close.”

A little reminder. I am out of the country and so I may be delayed in responding. Thanks

A few drinks and another story emerges… Humm, I wonder if Lucas was just a diversion? 🙂

I’m wondering the same as Gwen. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Have a great day, John!

The drink seems to have loosened things up a bit. I wondered about that. I love the cartoon at the top. Have a great day, John. 🙂 — Suzanne

LOL, I love a dirty martini, but they never had quite that effect on me, John.
I expect this is getting fun for you — I had such a good time writing that scene (way back when) when Felicity got tipsy on the potent poots of Absinthe, the Green Fairy skunk. Fun with drunk characters… are we responsible for getting them back inside the computer safely?
I hope your holiday has improved hugely from the airport/flying stuff. Tartan plaid hugs!

I remember the scene with the boots. Was a great ,moment. I’m not sure these to will let me help them back into the computer

Oh my my. Meanwhile Lucas’ stock is dropping like his heart monitor. But I don’t trust you, John. There’s a banged-up painter, a dead mom and dad, an MIA sister, and that sheriff that I picture as Cletus from the Dukes of Hazzard, stumbling around. I’m tightening my seat belt. I’m afraid of what will happen after these two women enjoy dinner and dessert.
Is it Wednesday yet?

Looks like you’ve got everybody on the edge of their seats, John. I just hope we all stay sober enough not to fall off our chairs before the next installment! Great post, good sir!

Those two women! I swear, John, you’re going to have them forgetting all about Lucas and renewing their love affair. 🙂 If Lucas only knew…I started to say he would run, but on the other hand, he might think this would be fun. 🙂 Happy Vacay, John!

How quickly they forget! A few more sips of those martinis and Alice and Harriett will be saying “Lucas, who?”

The waiter will have no idea how fresh tje fish is. I once made the mistake of asking a waitress in a restaurant called The Game Larder, whether the venison was wild caught or farmed. She had no idea. Neither, if she was to be believed, did the chef!

Beware the Road Kill Cafe, Keith. I’m suspicious of their 5 star Yelp reviews… 🙂

Somehow (and mercifully), I can’t see a Roadkill Cafe opening in France!

At times like this, I believe the correct response is YVW.
But why would you be interested in a Yellow Volkswagen (unless you’re an emissions inspector, of course)?

A fabulous writing challenge is to create and maintain a dialogue only piece without using tags. You did that perfectly.

These two are a bit creepy … or should I say crepey?! Anyway, I love being a fly on the wall at their dinner. Are you enjoying your trip so far?!?
