Footprints Challenge by aFrank Angle

This prompt is the brainchild of aFrank Angle and follows all the rules laid out. Primarily this picture must be used.

Footprints in the sand

a story needs to be written that is 150 words or less and titled like so

Footprints in the Sand by John W. Howell © 2017

“Why do you do it?”

“Do what?”

“Manage to have every young woman on the beach watch you walk by?”

“Why darling, I have no idea what you are talking about.”

“You do, you old goat.”

“It must be the cane. I got it special in India.”

“I don’t think that is it.”

“What is it then?”

“That ridiculous Speedo.”

Now I need to link back to Frank’s post. Here it is.

Finally, I have to display the following badge

I think I have done it all. I hope you like the story

  1. LMAO … Brilliant … and a great laugh for my morning! I definitely didn’t see that coming. 🙂

Thanks for participating … and I invite your readers to stop by for my story and the links to others!

    1. Thank you. I try to blindside whenever I can get away with it. 😀

      1. It worked …. sneaky but not subtle (which is what I tried to do).

      2. Even my initial pattern was in a Sherlock Holmes mode. … but have done a slammer ending as the murderer awaits.

      3. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

      4. … and if you don’t, it’s Obama’s fault.

      5. For sure. Even the thought of not doing what you have to do is Obama’s fault.

      6. We have it covered

  2. Gwen Plano · ·

LOL!!!! Yep, Speedos grab the attention but unless worn by someone like Michael Phelps, that attention is anything but positive. Great story!

    1. Ha ha ha. I remember taking the kids swimming and forgot my suit. All they had in the pool shop were Speedo’s. The kids doubled over in laughter. I didn’t leave the water until we were finished. 😀

  3. Yeah. That speedo would do it.

  4. Hilarious! Short, concise, but packed full of information 🙂 Also – I must have missed the part where the challenge was supposed to be 150 words or less! 😮

    1. Oh well. Good stuff anyway.

  5. I like the way you assessed the picture to come up with the cane. Great powers of observation.

    1. Thanks, Craig. I do a deep dive on pictures for prompts. Always looking for the hook that can be twisted.

      1. And you do it so well.

      2. Thank you, sir.

  6. Ooof, one does not even want to think about this one….

    1. Hide your eyes.

  7. Yep – the Speedos would definitely do it.

    1. I think so for sure.

  8. That was great, John! Got a snort and a guffaw from me, to be sure!

    1. Thank you Dale. Snort is good.

      1. Snort is very good! 😉

      2. 🤣

  9. You never fail to amaze me, John! That was wonderful!

    1. Thank you, John 😀

  10. How have all of the world’s Speedos not been systematically burned at this point? Not one of humanity’s shining examples of ingenuity…

    1. So true. Where is the gasoline?

  11. Ha Ha! Speedo and a cane. 🙂 Funny stuff!

    1. The word Speedo makes me laugh.

  12. Super funny 😂 Although, he must look very good if everyone is looking. Then again, he might look
very bad also causing everyone to look. I hope it’s the first. There are way too many people on the beach wearing way-too-small things. Fun read … thank you for bringing humor into the writing challenge.
    Isadora 😎
    Here’s my story:

  13. LOVED that!! Omg, the picture in my head is just….not for public consumption.
    You are so creative!

    1. Think of my head. I wrote this stuff. Thanks, Mae.

  14. Gotta love it…burst out loud laughing…scared the pets….:) What a that’s the real scary part!!

    1. It is one that takes a while to forget. Thanks, Kirt.

  15. Perfect! I thought you would participate in the challenge.

    1. You did well too.

  16. Great job, John, but it brought back a frightening scene I witnessed on a beach off the coast of Venezuela many years ago. It was a 70+ year old man wearing a Speedo THONG! OMG! I’ve never been more traumatized in my life.

    1. I’ll bet. Not a pretty sight.

  17. That was funny. 🙂 Great job with just a simple conversation.

    1. Thank you, Jacki. I’m glad you liked it

  18. ROFL!!! Brilliant John.

  19. Love this! Your sense of humor exceeds! Thank you!

    1. Thank you so much, Resa. Your photos are marvelous.

  20. I’m thinking we’re lucky he has the speedo on…in general. This is a tricky prompt. Liked it.

    1. Glad you liked it. 🙂
