It is Wednesday Story Day time again. Last week we were present when Seth and Alice discussed a discussion Seth had with a pharmacist in which he learned Lucas was on medication for anxiety. His purpose was to warn Alice about possible side effects of rage and thoughts of suicide. We think Alice got the message. Since she is headed for the hospital, we need to join her.
“Hello, Nurse Campbell. I Lucas feeling better today?”
“Yes, he is Mrs. Weston. I think he is up to visitors. Mrs. Murphy just left.”
“Yeah, I could have bet that old cougar would be here to see Lucas first thing.”
“Well, he is in room 302 which is the first door on the right. I don’t think he is napping.”
“Thank you, Nur—. I’m sorry, but I never got your first name.”
“It’s Staci, but here we prefer the more formal last name. Much more professional, Mrs. Weston.”
“I understand, Nurse Campbell. Thank you.”
“Hello there.”
“Oh Hi, Mrs. Weston.”
“Oh come on now Lucas you can call me Alice. After all, we are old friends.”
“Yes, we are. Hi, Alice. How are you?“
“The question is how are you. I’m fine. Thanks for asking.”
“Yeah, I feel pretty good. The feeling is coming back to my legs, so the doctor doesn’t think there is any permanent damage.”
“Now that is good news. I can see your memory is doing better too.”
“Yes, for sure. That is a big relief.”
“Here I brought you a present.”
“Thank you. Should I open it now?”
“Of course. That’s why I brought it in. Here let me help you.”
“Oh, this is way too much. This watch is beautiful.”
“Oh don’t go on too much Lucas. it’s only an Apple watch. I heard your watch was broken during the fall and so I got you this. I figured it would help with your physical therapy too. You can set it up to keep track of your workouts. Here are the instructions.’
“I don’t know what to say, Alice.”
“A simple task you will suffice.”
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, Lucas. I do have a question for you though.”
“Yes, what is it.”
“I still can’t understand how you fell off that roof. I was wondering if you were on any medication?”
“Goodness no. I don’t take anything but vitamins. Why do you ask?”
“I’m just trying to figure out what happened is all. I thought I would ask you and then rule out drugs.”
“Yes, you can rule out drugs. I saw what they did to my sister and want no part of any kind of drug.”
“Okay, Lucas. I didn’t mean to bring up bad memories. I’m concerned about you is all.”
“I’m sorry. I guess I get a little agitated when I think of my sister.”
“You want to talk about her?”
“No, no offense meant, but I’m trying to forget a lot about my life.”
“Oh, Lucas you poor boy. I’m sorry for your life. It makes me want to hold you and make it all better.”
“Alice?”
“Yes, Lucas.”
“It’s hard to breathe with you on my chest.”

Thankfully Lucas is recovering, and it seems the fall knocked a bit of sense into him – given his reticence with Alice. Hmmm – the sister, can’t help but wonder if she holds the key to this mystery. Thanks for the morning adventure, John. Have a great day! 🙂

Now that he has an Apple watch; he’ll have to have his other cougar buy him an iPhone.

Good idea. Of course if I use it I’ll have to give you credit. Thanks, Keith.

Are there GPS trackers in Apple Watches? Just wondering because I don’t trust her. 😀

Sooner or later we’re going to find out what brought him to this quiet little circus…right? I keep thinking that there has to be a reason. You’ve got my mind spinning for another week, John. Great ending (trying to clear that image…maybe a few Roadrunner cartoons).

I think we will find out. (well, we have to find out) Thanks, Dan.

You say that, John. But each week, I think a little part of your brain says: “I could mess with them one more time…”

That last line is classic. 🙂 And Apple watches aren’t cheap…

No for sure they aren’t cheap, but had to make sure no one though it was a Rolex. Thank you, Jan. 🙂

Of brother. She was on his chest? She’s moving right back into the picture in a hurry. Great twist, John. I love the picture of Kermit at the top. 😀 — Suzanne

An Apple watch?!?! Geez, she doesn’t give cheap gifts, does she?
And now the sister is another piece of the puzzle.
Excellent close 😀

Ah! So the sister resurfaces. I wondered when you were going to bring that back, John. The medications seem to have taken root as a key element. Breathlessly waiting the next episode — and fortunately without anyone sitting on my chest. 😀 Hugs on the wing.

Yes having someone on your chest for a week might get tiring. Hugs.
