Wednesday Story Day – AKA – Hump Day

Hump Day

It is Wednesday Story Day again. Last week we all had our eyes hidden as Alice looked like she was going to climb into bed with Lucas. She gave him a big hug and if you’ll recall he had to ask her to get off his chest since he was having a tough time breathing. Let’s go back and see how poor Lucas is faring.

“Okay, Lucas. I was just trying to comfort you is all.”
“I understand. I just got short of breath there for a moment.”
“How do you feel now?”
“Just great. Thanks.”
“Okay, then I’m going to leave since you are defiantly looking better.”
“You don’t have to run off. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings.”
“You didn’t hurt my feelings. I just have some things to do, and I see you are getting better. We can talk more later.”
“Okay then. I enjoyed your visit.”
“I did too, Lucas. Good bye now.”
“Good bye.”
“Well, Mrs. Weston. How do you think Mr. Saveride is doing?”
“He looks great Nurse Campbell. You are taking good care of him.”
“Why, thank you. By the way, Sheriff Gibson is in the waiting room.”
“Seth? What’s he want?”
“He asked if you were here and I told him yes. I hope I didn’t say anything wrong.”
“No, dear. Seth and I go way back. I’ll go talk to him.”
“Oh, thank you. I didn’t think anything of saying you were here.”
“It’s okay. I’ll see you later.”
“Hello, Seth. Are you stalking me?”
“Oh, knock it off. I’m trying to keep you out of trouble is all.”
“What do you mean?”
“I need to talk to that boy. it seems there is more to the story than just the pharmacist and some anxiety medication.”
“Tell me.”
“Well I don’t have all the facts but I think you ought to stay away from Lucas is all.”
“Makes you jealous does he?”
“Naw. I know I lost you. That’s not it. I just don’t want to see you get hurt.”
“You going to tell me more or just stand there sounding like a love-sick puppy.”
“Man you have a pair, Alice. I’ll give you that. Okay let me buy you a cup, and I’ll fill you in.”
“Lead on Seth. I never turn down an offer of a big cup of gossip.”

Never heard that last line before – is that a Texas thing? 😇 Glad to see Seth is hanging in there – not sure he’s more into service or protection. Great story segment, John!

  5. Ah, Seth and is immaculate timing. Not sure about camels being fat horses though. Maybe fat llamas?

  7. OK, moving back to Lucas being the bad guy. I like that. Big cup of gossip sounds just what this small town would be serving. I hope Seth isn’t stepping all over someone’s rights. I’d hate to see this end on a technicality.

    1. Yeah. Some of these small town sheriffs don’t seem to know about rights. Thanks, Dan

  8. Well, maybe we are about to get the low-down on Lucas, finally. 🙂 But, Seth might as well admit it. He still has a thing for Alice.

PS- I know there’s a twist coming, but I have no idea how twisty you’re gonna make it. 🙂

I’m starting to think that if I want to see where this truck is going, then I need to just keep an eye on ole Seth. My thinking is that he’d the bulldog who will reveal the truths….
Thanks for making Wednesdays the best lunch break of the week. Hugs on the wing!
