It is Wednesday Story Day again, and last week we were stunned to have Trish Severide show up at the hospital. She learned that there was a pretty big insurance policy payment waiting for her. She and we all learned that the insurance policy and will of the parents has gone missing. So I am seeing Alice answering her front door. Who is there but none other than Frank Plano the private detective?
“Yes, can I help you?“
“Hello, Mrs. Weston.”
“Yes I’m Mrs. Weston, and you are?”
“Frank Plano private detective.”
“What can I do for you, Mr. Plano?”
“Well, for one thing, you could invite me in.”
“To what end?”
“I just want to ask you a few things about Lucas Severide and his parents.”
“Things? What kind of things?”
“Please Mrs. Weston. It’s hard to talk through a screen door. May I please come in?”
“I’m not sure what information I have regarding the Severides. I do know Lucas though.”
“Great let’s talk about Lucas then.”
“What do you want to know?”
“I am a little unclear on why he is painting houses.”
“Why so. He’s a young man needing money for school or so he told me.”
“Yeah, see that’s just it.”
“What’s it?”
“The kid got five million from an insurance policy his parents had on their lives.”
“What? Oh, do come in Mr. Plano.”
“Thank you, Mrs. Weston. Thank you. I was beginning to get a sunburn out there.”
“Would you like some coffee?”
“That would be nice, thank you.”
“I’ll be right back. Have a seat.”
“Hello, Harriet. I’m whispering because I have that private eye in my living room and he’s telling me Lucas got five million from his parent’s insurance policy. Calm down, Harriet. I will see what this is about and call you back. No, you can’t come over. I’ll handle this. Bye.”
Ah, the plot thickens as Frank meanders. Now it is getting fun, a blog Mystery Theater experience. 😀 I’m loving the twists. Have a great day, John.

Primate detective? I thought he was a bit of an ape!
So; the two … erm … ladies are aware of the fortune that should be coming to Lucas. That could set the cat among the pigeons…

I guess they are wondering about Lucas for sure.

Subtlety all around here. They aren’t very good at keeping secrets or acting natural.

The small town rumor mill kicks into overdrive now. I also saw the primate detective and it reminded me of blog buddy Planetary Defense Command and his stories.

Could be a whole new story there. A chimpanzee in Colombo attire, “Just one more question.”

Now the soup is thickening into a stew – Lucas stew.
“Well, for one thing, you could invite me in.”
“To what end?”
I love that quick exchange – I think I’ll save that for those pesky sales people.
I knew it wasn’t going to be a straight line to the finish, John. Keeping my seat-belt fastened.

The mention of the insurance money got him in quickly:) Sounds like he told the correct person to spread information. Can’t wait to see what happens next week.

Yes. We have to have a heart to heart discussion with Alice. Uh unless something else comes up.

(Shakes head…) John, I know better than to try and guess what you will write next. (Although it seems to be human nature to do so — at least to a degree.) I just sit back and (hang onto the dash with white knuckles) enjoy the ride. Oh! Watch the airbag…
Thank you for another delightful lunch break. Hugs!

Ah, ha! So we’re almost to the point of learning why Lucas is painting houses when he’s got 5 mil in the bank. And now with the ladies involved the gossip train is about to start gaining steam–maybe. I can never tell where you’re headed with these segments, John, which is what makes this story so entrancing.
