Wednesday Story Day – AKA – Hump Day

Twiggy and Lucy

“You can look at me all you want, Twiggy. It is still Wednesday.”

It is Wednesday Story Day time again, and last week Andrew convinced Larry to run an ad with the possibility of flushing out a facility that might have the equipment necessary to create a force field strong enough to pulverize a heart. We all have to know that if the ad works, it would be the literary equivalent of finding a needle in a haystack. Let’s go and check on Larry and Andrew to see if there are any results from the ad.

“So, Andrew, what number did you list for people to call in the ad?”

“I sure didn’t put the police station number if that’s what you are asking.”

“I guess I was a little obvious huh?”

“You’re a cop. You were born obvious. I used my cell number.”

“Any calls yet?”

“Some gal named Christine who wants to give me an interest-free credit card.”

“I hope you are pulling my leg.”

“it is so much fun. In answer to your question, there have been no calls.”

“When did the ad run?”

“It was in this morning’s paper. It will also run in the afternoon edition.”

“Okay. Well, I’m wondering if we should do anything else while we are waiting.”

“I think having a cup of coffee might help pass the time.”

“You know where it is.”

“I do. Can I get you anything?”

“No. I’m good.”

“You sure? You look like you could use a cup.”

“I didn’t get much sleep last night.”

“Why’s that?”

“I kept having these wild dreams.”

“Want to share? Might make you feel better.”

“Yeah, I guess it might. I’ll walk with you to the coffee.”

“So tell me. What’s going on.”

“Did I tell you about talking to my deceased wife at the fortune teller’s place?”

“Yes, you did. I still am having some doubts about that.”

“I know you are a scientist. Trust me she was there.”

“I’ll give it to you for the sake of finding out what is bothering you.”

“Thanks. Well anyway in my dreams she keeps showing up and telling me to look for the motive.”

“The motive?”

“Yeah. She’s talking about the Sandusky case. When she says that I always get the feeling that I’m not doing something right.”

“Hmmm. Maybe there is some subconscious fact that you are trying to remember.”

“What do you mean.”

“Well, the dreams may be a manifestation of your subconscious. You may know more about the case than you even know.”

“You think so?”

“Well, it could explain the dreams.”

“In a rational way.”

“I didn’t say that. You did. Wait, here is a call coming in.”

Subconscious, or messages from the other side? Perhaps the phone call woll help.

With newspaper subscriptions dropping, they might be waiting a long time for that call. Cute picture, John!

You are very right. Should have put it on Craig’s List.

Uh Oh, don’t start casting doubt on the dead wife Andrew, she may not like it Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Anyway she might stop sending hints.

Good advice, David. Andrew may learn a lesson through all of this.

Just in time, John. I had forgotten about the fortune teller and dead wife. I thought I knew where this was going…that’ll learn me. I hope the call brings some answers.

I think you have a good grasp on where its going. I would recomment that you keep your hands in the car though.

I love the photo of the pups. From the looks of things, your home is puppy heaven. As for the story, I’m relieved the guys are finally paying attention to the deceased wife. Surely she has the needed insight. 😀

I was hoping the ghost part of the story would return. Good timing too.

I’ve been wondering if the fortune teller and/or the wife’s visitation would crop up again.I like the way the scientist rationalized things. Now to see who’s on the phone . . .

I like that you are keeping the deceased wife in the scenario. She is trying to help him in her limited way. And, his gut feeling that he’s missing something is good. Now, who is this caller? I hope it’s not another credit card offer. Good one, John!

Ha haha. It could be another offer. They only call ten times a day. Thanks, Jan

So he might know more than he thinks he knows . . . Hmmm. I think his deceased wife is pulling a “Thin Man” from the other side.
    You’re a crafty one . .

Hymie’s on the second line! He knows something that will break this case wide open! Personally, I think Hymie just wants attention! Just saying…

Dreams are good at rooting around in the subconscious mind. But I’d also like to see the wife make another appearance.

Aw, stairs up to the sofa — poor Dallas could use a set of those. Not sure where your story is heading, but I’m hanging on for the ride!

Oh gosh… I actually hope Andrew does not find any rational answers to anything. 🙂 It’s so much fun to imagine their puzzled and discomfited faces! A logical answer doesn’t necessarily have to be rational. 😈
John, thank you for adding a bright spot in my woeful Wednesday. Great big hug!
