It is Wednesday Story Day again. Last week we all stood around while the anchor was boiling in the descaling solution. We learned that Louis the tech had met Sandusky ten years ago. I think we all jumped to the conclusion that Louis may know a lot about what happened back then. Let’s get back since I see Larry doing his best Colombo imitation of subtleness in his questions.
“So did you kill Sandusky?”
“What? What are you talking about?”
“Sandusky was killed ten years ago, and someone who knew a lot about conduction and pulverizing things was responsible. Sound like anyone you know?”
“Hold on detective. I said I met Sandusky. I don’t know anything about his death. I read about it in the paper like everyone else.”
“Funny you should remember his name right away.”
“I could never forget Sandusky.”
“Why’s that?”
“He gave me fifty thousand dollars that’s why.”
“Okay now, this is getting good. Why did he do that?”
“He wanted me to perfect a process he was working on.”
“What process?”
“Removing organs from people without having to cut them open.”
“You have got to be kidding me.”
“No detective I’m serious.”
“What was he going to do with the process.”
“Well, that’s the funny part.”
“Go on.”
“He said it was going to be a medical breakthrough on transplants. His process removes the organ with no cutting.”
“How does the transplanted organ get in the body?”
“I asked him the same question.”
“And?”
“He told me it was top-secret. If he told me he would have to kill me.”
“He was serious then?”
“Let’s just say I didn’t detect that he was joking. You ever meet Sandusky?”
“No, not while he was alive.”
“He had the coldest eyes I’ve ever seen. Gave you the chills.”
“But you took the fifty thousand.”
“Was a no-brainer. I already had the process developed. I even think he knew that.”
“So, you told him how to do it?”
“Yup. Even signed away my rights.”
“You practice on a body?”
“Yeah, several.”
“OMG.”
“They were research cadavers. I borrowed them from the University. You can check with the Dean. It was all on the up and up.”
“So, tell me. Did the process include pulverizing the organ?”
“That is how it worked. The organ exploded inside.”
“We need to go downtown and have a little more discussion.”
“Fine by me. I have nothing to hide. Your anchor is done, and I would have told you what I know without the subterfuge.”
“Hear that Andrew?”
“Yeah, I heard. But do I believe it?”

I don’t know about the subjects’ internal organs; my brain is close to exploding!

They sure did. Let’s hope it means something. Thanks, Suzanne.

This is a twist I didn’t expect. I’m still focused on Sandusky’s cold eyes. There must be a dark secret yet to be exposed. Thank goodness for sweet Twiggy. She lightens the story, the week. 🙂

Then we’re agreed – it’s good work! I hate when I can see the writing on the wall, like with James Patterson – I knew the end every time – so I quit reading his books.

Thanks GP. I’m with you on Patterson. I wish I had his money though.

On that I agree. He lives on the island of Palm Beach – Money City!!

Hmmm, well I think I do believe his story which makes me no further forward in the story than I was before. So much for guessing.

An interesting turn of events. Not at all where I was expecting you to go, but then–you always do the unexpected!

Well, I don’t believe it. This all sounds a little too pat. I am reinstating everyone here in the active suspects list.
With that disclaimer, this is an interesting twist on this bit of history. The guy who was investigating the process is the guy that ends up dead…? I’m confused, so mission accomplished, John 🙂

I love the confusion. I’m right there with you. Thanks, Dan

Love it. Don’t forget your anchor. You might want to get some Turtle Wax on it right away so it stays nice and shiny.

Good idea. (I think Larry will want to leave it behind.)

Now, you’re cooking…er…exploding! Really rousing session, this, but ‘the Zig’ says it all – just another day at the office… Louis is okay, but, don’t forget, Hymie’s available when you need him…remember, he helped you on the last one! ♥

Thank you, Billy Ray. I have Hymie on speed dial.

Okay, John… so, where’s the hookah-smoking blue caterpillar? Because this keeps getting curiouser and curiouser. Terrific episode.
Twiggy is right. It *must* surely be Friday somewhere. 🙂 Hugs!

Great set of questions that only lead to more. Just one more question from Columbo…lol

Yes, just one more. Thanks, Denise.

While Louis has reason to lie or cover something up, I don’t get the feeling he is. And I still think the subterfuge was necessary to get in the door, no matter how this episode panned out.
As for whether Sandusky might have fallen at the hands of his own creation, that’s fascinating to me.
This just keeps getting better.

I keep thinking about the message from the dead wife to look for the motive. I think they are on the right trail. The statement about Sandusky having the coldest eyes the man had ever seen is a clue. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
