“It’s only Wednesday? Man, do I need a Friday.”

It is Wednesday Story Day again. Last week we found ourselves back to Micki Lee’s place where we were witnesses to a full-scale flirt being perpetrated by Micki and Andrew. Make no mistake, these two are old enough to be grandparents so we better watch out since anything can happen. We also were there when Micki called up Gloria, and like she was on a 100 Mbps download, she was right there. Let’s hope Larry can hold it together. Time to get back there. Don’t forget your bottled water.

“Gloria, Larry asked me to get in contact with you since he and his colleague Andrew have run into a bit of a snag on the Sandusky case.”

“Hold on, Micki. I can speak for myself.”

“Okay, Larry go ahead.”

“Larry, dear. Before you start aren’t you going to introduce your handsome sidekick.”

“Come on Gloria. Did you have to join Micki in such foolishness.”

“I think Micki and Andrew might have some attraction to each other. Right, Micki?”

“Well, he is a fine cut of a man.”

“You two know Andrew is sitting right here don’t you?”

“We know darling. The problem is Andrew is in a state of suspended animation and can’t see or hear us.”

“What? You mean after this session he won’t know what went on?”

“That’s right Dearest. He might as well be a chair in the room for all he’ll know.”

“Where is he right now?”

“As you can see, he is sitting here with us, but for all practical purposes he could in Dubuque, Iowa.”

“So, whatever I learn here, I’ll have a tough time convincing Andrew that it is true.”

“I’m so sorry for that, love. You see there are rules. We spirits can’t just have anyone witnessing our good works. Such a thing is only for the privileged.”

“As much as I’m flattered, I wish Andrew could be here as well.”

“We are wasting time, detective. You better ask Gloria what you want to know.”

“Okay, Micki. Here’s the deal, Gloria.”

“I know the deal, Larry. You’ve got a body that looks like suicide and only one suspect if, in fact, it’s not. Forget Louis. He is not your killer. You also are very right not to think Sandusky took his own life. He was murdered.”

“Well now. You have hit on the million-dollar question. The why is all about the bass. All about the bass no treble, Larry.”

“You mean the motive?”

“Exactly. Think of why someone would want Sandusky out of the way.”

“So, for some reason whoever killed Sandusky did it for money.”

“My love. You are definitely getting sharper in your old age.”

“You are mocking me, aren’t you.”

“Only slightly my dear. Just slightly.”

“One more question. Who did it.?”

“Oh, my poor Larry. One. If I told you this story would be over. Two. You and your hunky partner need to figure it out. Chase the money, my dear.”

“Gloria wait.”

“She’s gone, Larry.”

“So, when does the séance begin.”

“Ah Andrew, I’m afraid while you were in Dubuque, we completed the contact.”

“What? Dubuque? I don’t get it.”

“Maybe someday, Andrew. Would you care to stay for some tea? I’m sure Larry has to be running along.”

  1. Is Micki about to become the Happy Medium I keep hearing about?

    1. That is a good one, David. I think it describes her well.

  2. Ack! Who the heck did it?

    1. The suspect list just got shorter for sure. We know someone did. It was no suicide. Thanks, Jill.

  3. Not sure if I feel sorrier for Andrew being ‘frozen’ or Larry having to explain himself again.

    1. Let’s hope Larry does a better job this time. Thanks, Charles.

      1. Good luck on the dismount, Larry.

  4. Gloria’s not going to make it easy for Larry is she? I wonder what she was like alive. She’s a romantic even dead. 😀 — Suzanne

    1. No he is not. Of course there are afterlife rules she has to honor, like not doing anything to disrupt history. Thanks, Suzanne.

  5. Hmmm…the love of money….the root of all evil. So we have the why but not the who.
And poor Andrew is clueless about what just took place.
    I need more!!! 😀

    1. I’m thinking the why is an information rich source to tap. Thanks, Mae.

My goodness, this is a complicated case. I’m not sure we made headway today, but we got to meet Gloria. I’m ready to join Twiggy. A snuggle sounds mighty good right now. 😀

    1. We have to remember who is writing this stuff.Headway is not always obvious. A snuggle would be nice. Thanks, Gwen.

  7. “Curiouser and curiouser, cried Alice” and Dan. This is interesting, John but I don’t feel closer to an answer. You do know that’s why we come here…right? Speaking of not being there, Twiggy looks like she might be in Dubuque. It’s OK, she’s pretty cute.

    1. Ha haha. She goes to Dubuque quite often. The elusive answer can only go on so long. Once we know though it is over.

  8. I was hoping Gloria would tell him also – but she’s right. The story would be over and I’m not ready for that yet!

A budding romance and a murder for mone c.v couldn’task for more. I wish she had said who, but I know there are otherworldly rules. I will be singing it’s all about the Bass…that is one that gets stuck in my head easily;)

  10. Tee-hee! Love this chapter, John. That was a neat trick — keeping Andrew out of the seance loop. I’m sure you’ll use that to great effect. 😈
Fewer suspects… Horsefeathers! I hope Gloria isn’t in some kind of weird atonement for… never mind, I’ll keep that to myself. 😉 Hugs!

    1. By the way… Twiggy is looking awfully innocent in that pic. You’d better watch your back. 😉

  11. Lol! I loved that you threw in a little romance. I’m a sucker for that. 🙂 At least now Larry knows the motive was money. Now back on the trail of the killer!

    Keep ’em coming!

  14. It’s all about that bass . . . Now Imma have that song floating through my head for the rest of the evening.

So it’s about the money, hmm. That narrows it down to, well . . it doesn’t really narrow it down yet.

  15. Micki and Andrew a thing… interesting. Gloria is having fun giving clues and doesn’t want the journey to end. Larry, listen to your dead wife and follow the money trail. Great episode, John!
