Wednesday Story Say – AKA – Hump Day

hump day

“Is it Friday yet, Lucy?”
“Hurrmp. Hit snooze Little One. It’s only Wednesday.”

It is Wednesday Story Day again, and last week, we found out that the first server, Charles, was seen by the second server, Jerry leaving a party together. Also, Charles never made it into work the next day, according to Jerry. Seems Janice gave Jerry a $100.00 tip when he delivered her breakfast the next morning. I see that Jerry has left the conference room. Larry and Andrew are beginning a discussion. Let’s get there quick so we won’t miss a piece of the conversation.

“I’m telling you, Larry. This case is going to be the death of us.”

“Why’s that, Andrew?”

“I mean. Come on. We have Janice picking up one witness and the other ratting them both out.”

“Yeah, so?”

“What do you think is going to happen if a jury should hear that an eyewitness to the fact that Janice Rafferty was in town the night her husband was killed was seen leaving a party with her.”

“Still an eyewitness.”

“And why didn’t that pantload Charles tell us he was with Janice that night?”

“Cause he has something to hide.”

“What do you mean?”

“Maybe Janice used some persuasion to get Charles to help her get rid of Rafferty.”

“Now that is pretty far-fetched.”

“I don’t think so. Consider this. Janice has an affair going with Charles. She promises that they could see each other more if only her husband wasn’t in the picture. Maybe all she asked was to help get Rafferty loaded and then take him on a downhill run.”

“Who would do that?”

“Who knows? Maybe some young guy who only thinks with his penis. I’m sure he didn’t know Rafferty would hit a tree.”

“How was just getting him drunk supposed to free up time to be with Janice more.”

“Hell, I don’t know, Andrew. Maybe if Rafferty passed out, Janice was going to take Charles to her bed. All I know is Charles knows more than he told us. I think it is time we get him back for another talk.”

“So, he may be more than an eyewitness in your mind.”

“Yeah, I think he might be a suspect in an accessory to murder.”

“This would be a perfect spot for the dum-de-dum-dum music from Dragnet.”

“Huh?”

“Ah, forget it. You gotta be over sixty to catch that one. So, when do we chat with Charles again?”

“I’ll go tell Wentworth that we need to get Charles back over here.”

“Super. I’ll get another cup of coffee and chill here.”

“You do that very well so, lead with your strengths.”

“Why, thank you.”

  2. How much coffee do they drink in a day? Feels like they’re always getting fresh cups, so I assume they never sleep.

    1. When I waas younger I used to drink coffee all day. I guess I miss that now that I’m confined to one cup. 😀

      1. You might be able to have two. I lived on Diet Coke, John. I haven’t had a soda in over 12 plus years.

  4. I’m still laughing at that big of snark at the end, John. I guess the affair does complicate things. And here I was hoping these guys would be leaving on a jet plane, soon. Oh well, the coffee is good.

  6. Dum-de-dum-dum. 🙂 Yep, they may have a suspect for sure, but the motivation has to be more than sex. I say MONEY! Good one, John!

  9. Yepper… Charles knows more than he’s telling alright. But will he live long enough to tell it?
Hey… I resemble that “the dum-de-dum-dum music from Dragnet and having to be over 60” remark. 😉 Good ole Jack Webb.
    Hugs on the wing.
