It is Stream of Consciousness Saturday time again, and Here is Linda Hill with this week’s prompt. She is carrying a big bag, so I’m guessing she has some whopper of a prompt.
“Hi, Linda.Looks like a big prompt.”
“Xray eyes?”
“No, it’s just that it’s a big parcel.”
“Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is βthe last thing you put in your fridge.β Start your post with the last thing you put in your fridge. Let your mind wander from there. Enjoy!”
“Um, thanks, Linda.”
“See ya, John. Haircut warning.”
If you would like to participate in this joy, visit Linda’s blog and read how easy it is. Here is the link. https://lindaghill.com/2020/11/20/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-nov-21-2020/
The last thing I put in the fridge by John W. Howell Β© 2020
“Deep yogurt.”
“Huh?”
“I’m in deep yogurt.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I’m having trouble coming up with something to write about yogurt.”
“Why do you need to write about yogurt?”
“It’s the Stream of Consciousness prompt.”
“Yogurt? Goodness, the Hillster is really reaching.”
“No, no, no. She didn’t give yogurt as a prompt. We are supposed to write about the last thing we put in the fridge.”
“Yogurt was the last thing?”
“Yes, and what can you say about yogurt.”
“You could talk about flavor.”
“Vanilla.”
“Hmmm. Type.”
“Greek.”
“Yeah, well, I see your point. Maybe make up a story with yogurt in it.”
“And lose the reader entirely.”
“Well, with that prompt, you are going to lose them anyway.”
“Maybe a poem? I could incorporate yogurt into a poem.”
“Oh yeah. I can hear the Pulitzer committee calling right now.”
“Let me try.”
“Go for it.”
“‘I woke this morning.'”
“Going for a Haiku?”
“Yes. Hold on. Here’s the next line. ‘Confused as to what to write.”‘
“Um, okay.”
“Big finish now. ‘Picked yogurt, it’s deep.'”
“I think I would pass this week.”
“Why? It’s a good poem.”
“I don’t want you to embarrass yourself.”
“I’m going with it.”
“All righty then. I’m leaving.”
“Where you. going?”
“All this talk of yogurt has made me hungry.”
“For yogurt.”
“Heavens no. Thinking of a double bacon cheeseburger on a pretzel bun.”
“With fries?”
“Supersized.”
“Animal.”
“Want to come?”
“And leave my yogurt?”
“Suit yourself.”
“I’ll drive.”
Another fun dialogue, John. I was all set to enjoy Greek yogurt with lots of fresh berries and then the story took a devious turn. Hope your weekend is full of laughter — and some yogurt. π

Yes, yogurt is front and center. As you know, I always have to take a turn. Thanks Gwen. I hope you have a joyous weekend as well. π

Yogurt will only get you so far in life, John. The burger & fries sounds a lot better.
Have a nice weekend. Eat something the dogs will enjoy the last bite of.

What a tough prompt to respond to, John. You made it fun! I’d have to really think about the last thing I put in the fridge. I’m afraid it would be as boring as yogurt. π Fruit?

Thank you, Jan. Most everything in the fridge is pretty boring. π

Funny… I was just about to nuke some frozen berries, add plain Greek yogurt and top with muesli… And you’ve just pushed me to do so!
Happy Saturday!

I fell in love with the Guinness Extra Stout when I was in Delaware. Haven’t found it here, yet.
Fire’s on, snacks are at the ready, beer is chilled! Just missing you.

Yanno, it’s funny because I forgot to get yogurt yesterday when I was at the grocery store. But now I feel as if a cheeseburger on a pretzel bun might have been a better idea anyways . .
At the very least, they’re in my future. Both.

LOL. Cheeseburger & Fries are definitely more tasty than yogurt unless maybe it’s frozen yogurt cousin to ice cream :). Another great post. Happy Saturday.

I don’t even remember what was the last thing I put in my fridge, although we have plenty of yogurt! I love your dialogues, John. They always make me laugh out loud, and I loved the turn at the end. The yogurt will still waiting for you when you get back from having a bacon-cheeseburger π

A yogurt haiku… I gotta say that was a good one. I would have gone for the song, maybe Frank Sinatra, “Yogurt, when I’m awfully low…”
