Friday JohnKu – AKA – TGIF

Lucy and Twiggy

“Why does UPS ring that bell.”
“To warn me to bark them to St Louis.”
“How considerate of them.”

Here it is Friday. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know we did. Unfortunately, I was looking forward to the Steelers game on Thanksgiving day. I was the last to know that the game was canceled and rescheduled for Sunday.

There I was saying Go Steelers to everyone, and no one wanted to ruin my day. It was announced shortly after noon on Wednesday that the game was rescheduled for Sunday because of COVID trouble on the Baltimore Ravens team. Oh well, I had about twelve hours of looking forward to a game, which was a feeling that everyone else had lost.

Today’s JohnKu talks about having a hope dashed. I hope you all have a great weekend.

A hope by John W. Howell © 2020

When what you wish for,

Becomes too impossible . . .

Make another wish.

  1. Reminds me of a line from a film (can’t remember which one or who said it).
Man sidles up to a pretty woman in a bar: “Can I buy you a drink?”
Pretty woman: “I guess I’ll have a large Kir Royale.”
    Man: “Guess again!”
    ;D

Loved the haiku, John, and the reminder to make another wish. It’s a bit of wisdom we all could use.😊

  3. And the worse part is that the game may not be televised in your area. But there’s hope – both Texas teams have played … and I heard the Ravens QB may not play.

    1. The chances are getting better. The local station allowed a network commercial on the game. So maybe.

  6. Thanksgiving didn’t seem right with football ending like that! And I don’t understand why – other teams play with the backup, but because Jackson tested positive, the team has to sit out? What is 3 days going to do, when quarantine is 2 weeks?

    1. Yeah, I am confused on how they determine everything is okay. Thanks, GP.

      1. I don’t know, but ESPN just said that Jackson tested positive again today.

  7. Good JohnKu. And better luck on Sunday. If the weather is right I will opt for a bit more of ShovelKu to balance out some Turkey calories and will check on the score of the game later. Be well and well adjusted to our covid altered schedule.

  9. I’m glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It’s too bad about the Steelers game. I loved your thoughts at the end. I think we are all learning how to make another wish.

  11. You might have been disappointed your game was postponed, but now you get to enjoy it a bit later (better than a cancellation, right?!) Hope your Turkey-day was grand — love Lucy’s expression here … and that gold, bubbly thing on your table!

    1. Thank you, Debbie. That gold thing is a set of rings that does resemble bubbles. Yes, we had a super day. I hope you’d too.

  16. A sad conclusion of such a brilliant party, dear John! Friday at delivery? Interesting idea! Twiggy might order its visit with DHL as well…It will be faster, but more expensive though…Fridays are always expensive for us. 😁 Maria’s Zen after Thanksgiving day.
