“Hey, what are you doing?”

“I could ask you the same question.”

“You are in my pond.”

“And you are on my turf.”

“I’m not totally understanding what’s going on here.”

“Well, that makes two of us.”

“I got up this morning and decided to have a stroll.”

“Yeah, and I did the same.”

“How was I to know there would be an ugly mutt in my pond.”

“How do you think I feel knowing there is an ugly mutt on my land.”

“Your land? How can it be your land?”

“The same way you think this is your pond.”

“I’ve been here for years, and this pond has always been mine.”

“I’ve been here as long. Every morning, I look up, and that land has been there undisturbed.”

“I think you’ll agree something is wrong.”

“Darn right. You need to get off my land.”

“And you need to get out of my pond.”

“I’ll make you a deal.”

“What kind of deal?”

“You move away from the pond, and I’ll leave.”

“How do I know you’ll leave?”

“You can always check later.”

“Sounds fair. Okay, I’m off.”

“Goodbye. I’m off too.”

A question for the reader. What do you think is going to happen when the land Jack Russel comes back to check his pond? Yeah, this could go on forever.

Maybe, one day, one will go back and the other won’t be there. Now there’s a story!

I would say. Might be a heart breaker.

I love this. It makes me think of Lia looking in the window of her favourite coffeeshop and seeing another dog exactly like her looking back at her. She was not happy. How dare that dog be inside her coffeeshop! (especially since she is not allowed inside) LOL

Decades ago my brother owned a dog who hated mirrors. He would bark at his image.

Well, this could go the way of Narcissus, you know. Or maybe they’ll come to a meeting of the minds and agree to meet for playdates. In that respect they’ll never be disappointed!

    Very cute, John!

I love your Tuesday stories. This is so funny but so true. Ever watch those videos of dogs barking and barking at their image in the mirror? 😆 My cats scoff at the mere notion that there is another like them…😼

Tempeste hasn’t barked yes but she she is enamored with her image in our door glass. Twiggy couldn’t care less.

Ha ha! This reminds me of when a big buck was going through Mason, Michigan and went after another buck he saw in a store window reflection. He broke the window and ended up inside the store. 😀

Nicely done, John. I always wonder what Monk is thinking when he sees his reflection in a mirror. Dogs probably just don’t have understanding of that concept.

It is a very nice little story. I can tell that our Rollo recognizes himself in the mirror. When we are in front of the mirror he looks at me in the mirror and then he turns around to verify that it is me. He looks at himself and he does not react as if it is another dog. But it is not very interesting to him. Just confusing.
