A punch of the Latte button produces an 8-oz-tall bit of heaven. The first sip brings back memories of the clock. Today, it is set for St Louis, MO, July 19, 1924, and lasts an hour. When the plunger is pulled, we are in St Louis stadium.
We witness the celebration of pitcher Herman “Hi” Bell of the St. Louis Cardinals, who started and finished a doubleheader baseball game, pitching all 9 innings of a 6 to 1 win over the Boston Braves and all 9 innings of the second game of the day, a 2 to 1 win. Bell was the last Major League Baseball pitcher to pitch all 18 innings of two games on the same day.
The beer flowed like water, and before we had one too many, the alarm went off, and our trusty couch cushioned the fall. A text is received from Linda Hill and reads; Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “a repeated story.” Include in your post a story you’ve repeated again and again or a story you’ve heard again and again. Or write about the phenomenon itself. Have fun!

A Repeated Story by John W. Howell © 2024
“That was a repeated story for sure.”
“Funny how the prompt worked right into our schtick, right?”
“Sometimes you have it too easy.”
“Oh, come on. I have to do the research and find things to write about.”
“I hear your oldest daughter is coming for a visit.”
“So true. She arrives today.”
“That will be nice.”
“Yes, we always enjoy her visits. In fact, I will be taking a break from blogging.”
“Another break? Man, what must we do to keep you at the keyboard?”
“I will be showing her around, so the break will be from Sunday to Tuesday.”
“No Views of the neighborhood?”
“Nope.”
“Top Ten and the prompt with Keith Channing.”
“Nope, to both. I will be posting on Wednesday, though.”
“That is a normal day off.”
“Yeah, but I have an announcement that I need to make.”
“A good announcement?”
“I’m putting out a call for beta readers for my next book.”
“I thought it might be something like free VooDoo Rangers.”
“Well, that wouldn’t be much of an announcement for you. You call Uber?”
“He’s right over there.”

“A 1941 Packard Convertible? What a ride.”
“Nothing’s too good for you.”
“Since I’m buying, right?”
“Well, as long as you said it, I’ll take it.”
“Let’s go.”

Happy reunion, John! I am sure your daughter will have a lot of fun also with Tempeste and Twiggy. Best wishes, Michael

Have a good time with your daughter, John. I only have another four episodes of Solo written and nothing planned for afterwards. I’m seriously losing motivation and could probably benefit from a break for a month or so to see if it comes back. Given that and your well-earned break, this may be an opportune moment to call a temporary halt to the Kreative Kue feature. After all, 440 is not a bad run.

That has to be your decision. I enjoy the feature but quite understand if you need to step back. Let me know when you want to continue (If you do) and I’ll pitch in as well. Thanks for letting me know. I was going to send you an e-mail with a heads up yesterday but things got on the way.

No Tommy John surgery for Herman? Thats a helluva lot of pitching to do in one night.
Has Twiggy talked with Tempeste about your daughter’s visit? See you Wednesday, John!

Yes, Twiggy has told her not to jump up and to refrain from love biting her fingers and hair. (Frenchie show of affection) We’ll see how it goes

Happy reunion with your daughter, John. I’m sure Twiggy and Tempeste will be all over her! She’ll love them!
I do wish I could have seen those baseball games, and as a fan of antique cars (pre-50s), that Uber would have me jumping into the front seat!

I agree on the front seat. I have always like the cars of the 40s for their design. Thanks, Noelle. I’m sure Twiggy and Tempest will love the visit too.

Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a major league baseball pitcher pitch the whole game. I’ll really have to think about it.
That ride is awesome!
Have a lovely visit with your daughter and see you when you get back to blogging.

Enjoy that visit! Sounds even better than winning a double header. Wow, now that’s what I call a very stylish ride.
P.S. And yes, I wouldn’t mind the opportunity to read your next wonderful story.

John, I hope you are enjoying your visit with your daughter. Ours arrives later in August from Oregon, so I know how special these times are. If only we could ride in that ’41 Packard Convertible.

That might be the best Uber ride yet.
As for old Herman, 18 innings in one day is nuts! That’s a really good two weeks worth of work for today’s pitchers!
I hope you had a great time with the daughter, Sheriff.
