Tuesday – Anything Possible – Finger Point Prompt – Voices

Today, I opened Eternal Road- The last stop randomly to page 119. Without looking, I pointed to the page. The word “voices was nearest my finger/

“Did you hear that?”

“What?”

“Voices.”

“Where?”

“All around.”

“I don’t hear anything.”

“OMG. THEY ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY.”

“Calm down. There has to be an explanation.”

“Make them stop.”

“There is no one here. Wait, come closer.”

“What is that in your ear?”

“Oh. I forgot. My earbuds.”

“You are dumber than a stump, do you know that?”

“I forgot. I was listening to the news and didn’t take them out.”

“The news?”

“Yeah.”

“Better you should have been having a psychotic event. News, earbuds. It is a wonder I’m not nuts.”

“How do you know you’re not?”

“I have you as the standard for comparison.”

Always remember, though – you’re never alone with the voices! Good take on the random word, John.

Yes, earplugs can cut one off from the sounds of what’s happening.

John, your creative thoughts never cease to amaze me. Although, too often these anecdotes remind me of my own behavior. Yes, I’ve done it. 🥴

Earbuds…I never know if someone is talking to me or talking to the other person on the end of the darn earbuds. This was a fun one, John. Wait. Did you hear what I said? 😆

Huh? Did you say something? Reminds me of the old joke. “If a man is all alone in the forest and says something. Is he still wrong?”

You might not have meant to write a horror story, but the idea of leaving in earbuds with the news coming out? That’s horrific to me. These days, I get the news in small pieces.
