Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste On Their Own

So where is Dad and Aunt Barbara?”

“They went off to see a sculpture garden and an art exhibit.”

“So what does that mean to us?”

“Of course you would ask that. Well, it means we are on our own until they come back.”

“On our own. Like we’re orphans?”

“No, it means that Dad will be taking some time to be with her.”

“How much time?”

“As you know, she came in on Tuesday and will be leaving Saturday.”

“Okay, so why did Dad turn off the comments?”

“He will be busy and won’t be blogging again until Sunday.”

“So in theory, we are without Dad.”

” When Dad is gone, yes. Here comes Mom to open the door.”

“Gee, I will miss Dad.”

“Don’t be silly. He will be here,  just not blogging.”

“But this blog is part of our world.”

“Don’t get too extensional. It just means that come Sunday, Dad will be blogging again.

Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste in Conversation

“Wow. That sun feels good on the face, Twiggy.”

“Tell me about it. We haven’t laid out for quite a while.”

“Why don’t we do this more often?”

“You tell me. I don’t know why.”

“Being inside on a day like this is a crime.”

“Well, all we have to do is get Mom or Dad to open the door, and we could do this all the time.”

“I wonder why we can’t open our own doors?”

“We have no thumbs, remember. Besides, the knob is way up in the air.”

“What about a doggie door. You know, I’ve seen them on Instagram.”

“Problem is, all kinds of critters could come in there, too.”

“Oh yeah. I could just see that smart-assed squirrel helping himself to one of our beds.”

“Not to mention that skunk who wanders by now and then.”

“Yeah. In fact, he came by last night. I can still detect his essence.”

“Can you imagine meeting him at breakfast and having a disagreement. No thanks.”

“Great point. I’ll bet Mom would love having a skunk eruption in the house.”

“I think we’d better lose the idea of a doggie door.”

“Oh, hi, Dad.”

“What are you two talking about?”

“Oh, we were just weighing the pros and cons of a doggie door.”

“What? My doorman role is not up to par?”

“It’s not that. We just wanted the freedom to come and go.”

“Believe me, if you had a doggie door, you would miss the pleasure of seeing your Mom and me waiting on you two.”

“You are right. Forget the idea.”

“Done.”

Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy Worries About Tempeste

“So, Tempest, you’ve been playing around that tree, right?”

“How’d you know?”

“I heard the fence move, and that can only mean one thing.”

“Well, I may have tried to get to an ornament or two.”

“You know that is the quickest way to drive Mom up the wall.”

“How much could it hurt? There are plenty of ornaments.”

“That’s not the point. She doesn’t want you swallowing anything harmful.”

“I don’t think a couple of needles would be harmful.”

“Says the dope who continues to eat leaves. Say, what’s that on your face?”

“Face? Nothing.”

“Oh man. You have got to be kidding me. You got an ornament. Where is it?”

“Okay, you caught me. It’s over under the tree.”

“Come here and wipe your mouth like this.”

“Why? I didn’t eat anything.”

“Trust me, you need to wipe your face. You need to spend some quality time doing that.”

“I don’t know what you are talking about. I didn’t eat anything.”

“That’s not going to help you when Mom sees your face.”

“Oh, hi, Mom.”

“I can’t bear to watch.”

“Tempest, do you know anything about this ornament on the floor?”

“What ornament?”

Thursday – Anything Possible – Twiggy and Tempest Make a Decision

“So Tempeste. What do you feel like doing today?”

“I was thinking about heading outside for a little toy ruckus. What about you?”

“I could use me some good old nap time.”

“You just had a good night’s sleep, right?”

“Well, yeah, but it is chilly out, and a nice snuggle would be nice.”

“There is a matter of exercise.”

“I can do it right here. A couple of push-ups and it’s done.”

“I guess you can kid yourself if you want to, Porky.”

“Did you just body shame me?

“It’s not a shame you are just big boned.”

“Well, I hope not. We are just built differently, that’s all.”

“Yeah, I love exercise, and you love naps.”

“Here I go. Ten pushups.”

“I would still rather go outside.”

“Well then, why don’t you just go?”

“Like you said, it is chilly out there.”

“You crack me up. Yeah, it is chilly, exercise or no.”

“Okay, maybe a nap is the best course after all.”

“Tell me this isn’t better.”

“You were right. This is better.

Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste Have a Discussion

“So, Twiggy, I have a question.”

“I don’t want to play with your pink thing.”

“That’s not the question.”

“I don’t want to go outside. It’s freezing.”

“That’s not it either. I’m wondering why this fence is around the Christmas tree?”

“Oh, brother. You really have to ask?”

“What do you mean by that?”

“The fence is there because a certain child can’t keep from pulling off branches.”

“A certain child? You mean me?”

“Winner, winner chicken dinner.”

“Well, for heaven’s sake. I’m only investigating what it is made of.”

“Yeah, and chancing a trip to the ER.”

“I wouldn’t swallow those branches. Just a taste is all.”

“Well, Mom and Dad can’t take that chance. They have Tempeste-proofed the place.”

“I don’t think that shows a lot of trust.”

“Says the kid who can’t stop eating leaves.”

“Okay, you have made your point. You sure you don’t want to ruckus with me?”

“Let’s wait a little. It may warm up later. It’s supposed to be 55 degrees (12+ °C) later.

“Still chilly.”

“Yes, for us, but better than right now.”

Thursday a Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.

“So this is Thanksgiving.”

“Yes, Tempeste. A time to give thanks for all our blessings.”

“Look. Dad has turned off comments.”

“He wants our readers to not have to take time away to comment.”

“So we should wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.”

“Yes. Wait for it.”

“Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving from our house to yours.”

“And if you know the ASPCA emergency number, ask them to help us.”

Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste Outside.

“Twiggy. Look at all these delicious leaves.”

“Oh no. Tempeste, you leave them alone.”

“I’ll leave them alone. Alone with me in my mouth.”

“You are going to get in so much trouble.”

“Who’s going to know? Unless you tell.”

“I’m not going to tell, but you know those aren’t good for you.”

“Not good for me? Well, I think otherwise.”

“Come up on this porch now.”

“You sounded just like Mom.”

“That was Mom,”

“Oh man, just look out there. And more keep falling.”

“And you will make yourself sick if you keep eating them.”

“Look at this one.”

“Leave it.”

“It’s such a little one. Couldn’t possibly hurt.”

“You are going to develop a leaf dependency if you’re not careful.”

“What a way to go.”

“Oh, brother. You’re hopeless.”

“Okay, I’ll leave them alone.”

“If only.”

Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste at Play

“Hey, Twiggy. Check out my Down Dog yogi move.”

“I can’t see you from here.”

“Darn it. You missed my Down Dog.”

“Well, just do it again over here.”

“What do you have there?”

A snowman from last year.”

“I don’t remember that toy.”

“Well, it was here last year. Maybe you just forgot.”

“Just forgot? Are you kidding? I have the memory of an elephant.”

“Well, it looks like you are one peanut shy of a full memory load.”

“This is serious. You don’t think I have dementia, do you?”

“Of course not. You are too young. You just forgot the toy, is all.”

“I never forget a toy. That has a face no one could forget.”

“Well then, maybe you never played with it.”

“I guess that could be. I try to grab every toy, so this has me confused.”

“I can sure vouch for you grabbing toys.”

“I know, right? This might be serious.”

“Forget it already. Just accept that you overlooked one.”

“I don’t know if I can. Forgetting a toy is one thing, but not grabbing it is quite another.”

“I’ll be through in a minute, then you can grab this one.”

“You are  such a good sister.”

“Or someone who wants this memory vs grab conversation to be over.”
