Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste Enjoy the Sun.

“Wow, Twiggy. This sun feels good.”

“Um hum.”

“You taking a nap?”

“I would like to, but there is a magpie in my ear.”

“Ah, okay. I’ll let you nap in peace.”

“Really, I don’t need a nap. Where are you going?”

“I thought I heard one of those pesky jackals in the brush.”

“We haven’t seen a jackal in these parts for some time.”

“Well, it could be a cougar as well. Pesky cats anyway.”

“Coming from the mouth of a Panther.”

“That’s different. When those suckers are stalking us, it is a different matter. What are you doing there?”

“I’m finishing my yoga. This is called Up Dog.”

“Well, it looks like you are up for sure now. You feel like helping me save our lives.”

“This sounds like a segment of Naked and Afraid.”

“Hear that? Sounds like an elephant.”

“Better hope it’s not a Rhino.”

“A Rhino? I never thought of that. I think it’s time to go in.”

“Well, I’m just sayin’ I don’t know for sure.”

“I know when I’m outgunned, so slinking away is the better part of valor.”

“I don’t even know if it is a Rhino.”

“Well, even if the Rhino is imaginary, it still is scary to think about.”

“Okay, but we have to face those fears.”

“There is always tomorrow to face fears.”

“That’s fine as long as you don’t avoid them totally.”

“I think it is normal to be afraid of a Rhino.”

“That’s true, but if it is only a figment, then it must be challenged.”

“Figment?”

“In the mind.”

“The worse kind.”

Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste Face a Weather change

“Wow, Tempeste. What a difference a day makes.”

“Catch that refreshing air. This is going to be fun.”

“I agree. Looks like a good Panther/Puma day. What are you looking at?”

“Shush. It’s Dad with the iPhone again.”

“That’s okay. Just ignore him. He thinks he has to record our every moment.”

“Well, sometimes we should have our privacy. Say, what is the temperature out here?”

“Hey, Dad. What’s the temperature now?”

“Hold on, let me look.”

“Okay. It is 52 degrees (11.11 °C) right now.”

“That’s a little chilly for us. Thanks, Dad.”

“So let’s play. The puma spots the panther across the prairie.”

“The Panther starts to stalk the Puma, being careful not to make a sound.”

“The Puma waits in hiding for the Panther to get closer.”

“The Panther senses danger and decides it is time to strike.”

The puma hears a twig snap and gets ready for battle.”

“The Panther leaps at the unsuspecting Puma.”

“The Puma scores a direct hit on the Panther’s jaw.”

“The Panther is stunned for a moment.”

“The Puma roars in hopes of driving the Panther away.”

“The Panther pretends to be frightened.”

“The Puma figures the Panther is faking being frightened.”

“The Panther gets low to the road in preparation for another strike.”

The Puma gets ready for another onslaught of Panther aggression.”

“Snarling the Panther comes in low for a throat chomp.”

“Again, the Puma deflects the attack, and the crowd goes wild.”

“The Panther snaps, hoping to catch an ear.”

“The Puma floats like a butterfly.”

“The Panther stings like a bee.”

“What are you pausing for?”

“Do you ever get the feeling you are being watched?”

“Well, yes. That’s the whole idea of the blog.”

“It is concerning sometimes.”

“You just have to get over it. Let’s continue.”

Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste Battle a Monster.

A new robot cleaner has entered the jungle. Twiggy and Tempeste cope as best they can.

“What the?”

“Hey, Tempeste. Come up here. What is that thing on the carpet over there?”

“I just woke up. What thing?”

That black thing sneaking around.”

“OMG. I have no idea. I don’t like the sound of it, though.”

“We’d better set off the St. Louis bark alarm.”

“Wait. Let’s take a better look. It might be a new toy.”

“New toy? It’s moving around all by itself.”

“I see that. I take it as a threat.”

“The puma challenges the outsider to declare itself friend or foe. Tempeste, where are you anyway?”

“I’m behind the chair putting on my panther persona.”

“Well, get out of here. The thing has flanked me.”

“Not to worry. The panther will save the day.”

“I think it is caught. We can knock it out.”

“Look at that eye blinking. Did it have a stroke?”

“Just when I thought it was safe to walk away.”

“It came to life the minute you turned your back.”

“Big lesson learned. Don’t turn your back. Hey, you, the puma orders you out of here.”

“I can see it quiver in fear with those powerful words.”

“Powerful or not, it’s leaving.”

“I have to hand it to you. Your words did the trick.”

“Another lesson. Don’t mess with the puma.”

“And be very afraid of the panther.

Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste at Play

“What game do you want to play, Tempeste?”

“I was thinking of maybe fetch.”

“Um. There is a problem with that.”

“What is that?”

“We have no thumbs to be able to hold and throw the ball.”

“What about Dad?”

“He’s in the office working on something.”

“Well, there’s Mom.”

“She is busy as well.”

“Well then, Twiggy. How are we going to play ball?”

“I guess ball is out. How about tuggy?”

“With that miserable little toy?”

“Better than nothing.”

“One more look tells me this thing is totally inadequate for two Frenchies to play tuggy.”

“So where’s that leave us?”

“It leaves us standing around until dinner.”

“Speaking of which. I hear the call of the kibble. You coming?”

“There is a stray leaf back here. Maybe it will be tasty.”

“More than the delicious stew and kibble.”

“On second thought. Hold up.”

Thursday – Anything Possible – Twiggy and Tempeste Outside (A Little)

“Twiggy. What do you want to play?”

“We could do Puma and Panther.”

“The panther senses that danger is near.”

“The puma holds its breath cause clearly the Panther is confused.”

“The panther responds to the snap of a twig in the jungle.”

“Clearly the Panther is hallucinating.”

“The panther excuses herself and goes in search of prey.”

“Wow. What am I, chopped liver?”

“The panther picks up speed in pursuit of the scent.”

“The puma decides to take five.”

“The Panther rests on the prairie.”

The puma heads back to the den.”

“The Panther notices movement in the bull rushes by the oasis.”

“The Puma wonders if mental conditions are catchy.”

“The Panther begins the slow stalk to take the prey by surprise.”

“The puma bids her time till the idiot is in range.”

“The unsuspecting wild pig has no idea the Panther is in range.”

“Hey, who are you calling a pig?”

“The Panther ignores the wild pig and concentrates on the sound of kibble.”

“I think that sound is your imagination. It’s not dinner time.”

“How would a wild pig know?”

“You ever deal with an angry wild pig?”

Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste on the Hunt

“Hey, Tempeste. What cha finding over there?”

“It’s nothing, Believe me.”

“If it’s nothing why are you spending good nose time here?”

“It just seemed like it would be something.”

“I have to see for myself.”

“Be my guest. See nothing.”

“Yeah, you are right. You would think there would be a crumb of something around here.”

“This trash bin could offer a snack.”

“You go ahead and case out the bin. My poverty stricken mind is now on toys.”

“I can’t see anything. No smells either.”

“Face it. These two don’t drop anything of interest.”

“Gosh you would think even a drop of milk or something.”

”

“Sadly our rents haven’t reached the clumsy age yet. No kids here either.”

“Yeah we need a kid to drop a pepperoni or better yet, a peanut butter toast, peanut butter side down.”

Hey Twiggy. What are you and Tempeste doing?”

“You won’t believe it.”

“Try me.”

“We are praying that you or Mom let some food fly sometime.”

“Well you know your Mom.”

“I sure do. We might as well pray for a gopher in the house.”

Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste Face a Change

“Looks like a good day for the yard, Twiggy.”

“I think you are right. Let’s get out there.”

“Hey. Wait a minute. There’s a fence cutting off my favorite part of the yard.”

“I think the rents are preparing for fall.”

“What do you mean by preparing for fall?”

“Well, you know how you love to eat acorns and crape myrtle leaves.”

“I beg your pardon. I don’t eat acorns and crape myrtle leaves.”

“Yeah, right. Anyway, the rents are trying to keep the temptations down to a dull roar.”

“So they put up a fence to keep me out of the area where those delectable..er, I mean dead leaves fall?”

“That is a good summary. They also moved the tent so the other leaves will stay off the turf.”

“Yeah, well, there is a leaf that broke through.”

“There will be some, of course, but the majority will not be available to you.”

“I don’t get what is so wrong with eating leaves.”

“Obviously, since you do it a lot.”

“Well, if I’m going to be accused of doing it, might as well do it.”

“Spoken like every heroin user on the planet.”

“What’s heroin?”

“To you, it’s that thing in your mouth.”

A reminder. I will be on a break from tomorrow until Thursday, October 2nd.

Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste Critique the Dining Room

“Twiggy, today is the day for the new carpet and table in the dining room.”

“How do you know that?”

“I heard Mom telling Dad.”

“And we should care, why?

“New stuff is always exciting. Come on, let’s check it out.”

“Okay. I think Bunny has had enough of a nap.”

“The carpet is so nice. You can rub your chin on it.”

“Don’t let Mom see you doing that. Where’s the table?”

“The delivery guy is due any time.”

“I can’t wait to see his face when we bark him to St. Louis.”

“That is always good for a laugh for sure.”

“I think I hear something.”

“Too bad we had to spend time in the yard. We missed the whole bark-a-thon.”

“The table looks great. I’m sorry, we couldn’t get in the way while it was being set up.”

“Well, at least we can enjoy camping out here. Man, I’m bushed.”

“I know what you mean. You know, I have a funny feeling.”

“What kind of feeling?”

“Like there is a big cat around here somewhere.”

Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste in the Morning

“Hey Twiggy. What do you think, a little ruckus?”

“Tempeste it’s seven o’clock in the morning.”

“Well yeah. A great way to start the day.”

“I’m not so sure about that.”

“Where you going?”

“No where. Just shifting my nap spot.”

“Nap spot? Does that mean no ruckus?”

“You are very quick on ypoir feet. Do you know that?”

“Brother. I wish there was another dog around here.”

“Go get frog dog. He’ll play with you.”

“Even if I pretend hard. He can’t take your place.”

“Okay how about this. A quick nap then we can play.”

“I suppose that can work.”

“Great. Now find something quiet to do.”

“I guess you have a good idea here. Kinda sleepy myself.”

“Terrific. Snork, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

“I need earplugs though.

“ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.”

Today 24 years ago the Twin Towers in New York were destroyed by radical terrorists. Let’s not forget those who’s lives were lost that day.

Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Tempeste Toy Time

“How long are you going to play with Chicken, Tempeste?”

“I just started. I don’t know. Why not get Coco and Dodo?”

“I played with Coco and Dodo a while ago. I was going to play with Chicken next.”

“Well, when I’m through, you are welcome to Chicken. In the meantime, get Coco and Dodo.”

“Okay, I got Coco and Dodo. They are sick of me, and I’m sick of them.”

“That sounds a bit extreme, Twiggy.”

“It’s true. They don’t want to play with me, and I feel the same.”

“Okay, maybe later, Chicken will be yours.”

“I guess you don’t get it. I need chicken now.”

“I never heard of anyone Jonesing for a toy before.”

“It’s not that. You have been hogging that thing for an hour.”

“An hour? No way.”

“Way. I’m going to speak to a higher authority about this.”

“Mom is at the store.”

“Dad. Tempeste has had Chicken for an hour and won’t share.”

“I thought you said higher authority. Here comes Dad’s comment.”

“Don’t listen to Tempest, Dad. Make her give up Chicken.”

“Now, Twiggy. You know that toy sharing is a matter of when one is through with a toy. Now go get Coco and Dodo.”

“Look at Coco and Dodo. They don’t want to play.”

“Then find something else. You have a lot of choices.”

“Boy, Tempeste, you must be a precious pal to Dad.”

“No. He’s the rule man. I think you might have been better off waiting for Mom.”

“Well, just wait until she gets home.”

“In an hour? Yeah, I can wait.”
