Today a little personal leads me to a wonderful place Austin Boxer Rescue
My wife is a volunteer, and there are times when we need to keep a Boxer temporarily. I would like you to meet Winston, he stayed with us until my wife took him to San Antonio yesterday to join Austin Boxer Rescue, the rescue organization for adoption. He was at the Corpus Christi animal shelter after found abandoned in an apartment with his sister. The shelter estimates he and his sister were in the apartment for thirty days with minimal food and water. He is a sweet happy boy, I hope he gets a home quickly.
The poor guy came without a collar so he has to wear one of Lucy’s. (our rescue Boxer) I guess pink goes with brindle okay. He is hunting something in our backyard by the cardboard palm. (could be a ferocious weed)
Here is Winston trying to decide which toy to choose. (I would go for the horseshoe Winston) As a side note, the water skis and floats in the background spooked him since he has never been near them before. He got used to them as well as walking on the beach with the rest of the crew.
He thinks he hears something like the sound of kibble falling from the measure into his bowl a hundred feet away.
Here is his usual place which is not uncommon for most Boxers. They love a good couch.
It is sometimes troubling to witness abject cruelty and I suppose my wife and I see more than most. I hope everyone with a conscience would take a stand and have zero tolerance for the ignorant belief that animals are somehow inferior to humans and don’t deserve love and care. Thanks for the visit.
Thanks for the post! Both our previous and current dogs where from a shelter, so I completely agree with everything you say. Our current dog is 11 years old and we had her when she was 8 months old. An animal shelter picked her up from the street (she was a stray) and it took them 2 months to find her adoptive parents (us!).
As for the couch, it’s a common habit of all dogs. It seems that any couch, cushion or human surface that is soft and smells nice is the perfect spot for a dog nap. We just got used to it!

We used to try and keep a spot dog free. Gave up and covered everything. Thanks for sharing. The rescue dogs love their new homes and are such good companions. Glad you and yours got together

We had a brindle boxer named Samantha. She could hear a banana being peeled through a glass door. Honestly! She loved fruit,

Good thing we have a couch to spare. Well, sometimes not.

Guess with enough dogs it looks like a bunch of seals sunning on the rocks. Just sprawled and relaxed. That’s the life.

Perfect description. Throw in two cats and you got it

I’d throw in the cats, but I fear they’d take offense and retaliate.

I find myself enlarging the photos and going, “What a handsome boy you are! What a handsome boy!” Fortunately, I’m alone in my room right now 😉 Kudos to you and your wife for your rescues and for fostering.

He was so good as well. I wish we could keep them all. A piece of me goes with them when they leave. Thanks.

A handsome fellow, indeed. I cannot get my head around how anyone, anyone could abuse any living creature for whatever reason. All my pets (cats) are and have been rescue animals. ❤ ❤ ❤

He is precious! Being part of such a great program must be so fulfilling, John. Your wife must have a hard time letting these fosters go. I would. I don’t understand cruelty either.

It is tough to let them go and then you see a picture of em all happy with their forever home and it is all worthwhile.

You and your wife are doing a noble thing. Winston (great name) seems like he knows he’s found a good thing and I hope he goes to another great family.

I love how dogs lay on couches in ways that make me think “that can’t be comfortable” but they seem to enjoy. We too live with covered couches. How can you say no?

Impossible especially to one who has gone through hell and back.
