TGIF and Haiku

a friday

Friday at last. As amazing as it is the month is half over. Soon we will be graced with the Memorial Day holiday which is worth the expectation of good times, weather and a little time off. Of course we must keep going for another two weeks before the promise of pleasure. Today’s Haiku is a small tribute to the fact that the winter weather is finally behind us and the warmth of summer nearly upon us.

Shiver in the cold,

Too long waiting for the sun . . .

Complaining, too hot.

Wish I was there. Woke up to 34 degrees here. Feels like March (maybe February even) not May 16.

Know how you feel. Lived in South Bend for a number of years. Could never figure out the weather. Old joke: Father Sorin, founder of Notre Dame was trekking across America with his party heading from New York to California to found a new university which he was going to call Notre Dame. His party got snow bound in South Bend and he declared they would only stay there until the weather cleared up.*rim shot badadda bump bump and cymbal*

I suspect you have a hot summer in store John. The year is flying by, and the World Cup is nearly upon us, though I guess most Americans probably aren’t that excited about it.

I suspect you are right about the World Cup. We do enjoy watching the fans turn over automobiles weather or not they win of lose. Have a great weekend

I think I’m one of the few who is dreading the heat of summer. Is there anywhere on this planet where it’s spring most of the time?

Yes. San Diego CA. Most days around 70 degrees

Hmmm. If only the pizza was as good as over here.

Well you need to abandon good pizza for the California health food variety. In fact when I lived in California my opinion was the box had more appeal than the pie.

Your haiku fits Florida perfectly. Right now we are enjoying relatively mild temps after what was for us, a long winter. It won’t be long now before everyone will be complaining about the heat 🙂

After the forgettable winter we just had, I swear on a stack of Farmers Almanacs that you won’t hear me complain about how hot it gets this summer. I love the haiku, and will remember it when the temptation to go back on my promise attempts to get the best of me.
