Wednesday Story day is here. Yes, our old friends Billy and Frank are the central characters again. I have had many comments on how these two remind us of Abbott and Costello. I would say the comparison might be closer to Dumb and Dumber. I find Abbott and Costello to be totally funny without a vicious bone in their body. I cannot say the same for Frank. I think Billy is just plain dumb and sometimes wish he would get the hell away from Frank. Much like the little kid following a big kid in school Billy seems to follow Frank for no other reason than he has no one else to follow. Well, enough of the chin music (or finger music) about these two. Here is the story titled Feelings.
Feelings by John W. Howell © 2014
“Billy you really need to get rid of the AK47.”
“Why?”
“I don’t think you will be able to handle it and I for one don’t want to get into the line of fire.”
“Aw, Frank you’re hurting my feelings.”
“Billy, I don’t mean to hurt your feelings but this is a little more important than your stupid feelings.”
“Stupid feelings? Why do you say that?”
“You are picking my words apart. What I mean is that gun could get out of control and we all would be sorry.”
“Well, what do you want me to do?”
“How about we sell it?”
“Can’t.”
“What do mean can’t?”
“I never bought it.”
“Who cares how you got it, Sell it.”
“I don’t have a receipt.”
“What the hell does a receipt have to do with anything?”
“Oh, Frank I wouldn’t buy anything without a receipt. Don’t you think everyone is the same?”
“Listen to me Billy. You are selling an illegal weapon. Who the hell is going to ask for a receipt?”
“I would.”
“Shut u─ No wait. Where did you get that thing anyway?”
“A friend of mine.”
“So give it back and get your money back.”
“Can’t.”
“Why not?”
“I took it. Didn’t pay for it.”
“Take it back.”
“Can’t.”
“Why?”
“The guy wasn’t exactly happy to give it up.”
“Shut up Billy.”
I was surprised to hear there was a sequel to Dumb and Dumber and even more surprised that it was the top money maker last weekend…really? I enjoyed your story, John.

I don’t know. There is the line “I’ll break your arm if you say who’s on first!” 🙂 These two are starting to remind me of Laurel and Hardy with a touch of Stooge. Why do I have a feeling that Billy is walking around with the AK47 out in the open?

He actually has it in his house, but I like your thought. Think I will explore this next week.

Hope they live in an open carry area.

I love Charles’s comment. Billy and Frank are fast becoming my favorite characters, at least they give me a good chuckle before I have to go off to work 😉

I hope they are not becoming boring. You’ll tell me right?

I would tell you. They are not at all boring. You really do a great job with setting up the reader for the “punch line”. I never know who is going to get the last word, either, which also makes it fun 🙂

They definitely aren’t boring. A little scary with the two of them together.
