I have been discussing the fact that we have been getting a lot of rain lately. I thought I would put it into perspective with a couple of photos. On Monday night, our area received six inches of rain and wind gusts of thirty-five miles per hour. The net effect was a lot of flooded streets and flood warnings all night. Here is a photo showing how full the collection pond is behind our house.
That thing made out of concrete is the storm drain with the pond behind. The street is flooded. The next photo shows Wednesday morning’s result of three inches more.
That house on the right is ours and as you can see the water is getting serious. We are fortunate our builder put the house on a high mound of fill. The next photo gives you a bird’s eye view of the water level.
This is a photo of the backyard from the sundeck above. You can see the water making an incursion into the palm tree bed and the flooded street. We expect more rain and won’t be clear of the weather until Friday. We have also had a few tornado warnings as well.
“Hello. Is this Noah? Yeah, a question for you. Got any room on that Arc? Port side cabin preferred.”

I hope you stay dry!

Wow. Stay dry and hope it clears up soon. Though now I keep thinking ‘Row, row, row your boat. Gently down the street’. Used to sing it as a kid when we had strong rains. Good luck and remind Noah about forgetting the unicorns last time. Don’t want another snafu.

Wow-za. Hope you stay dry. I don’t like that much rain. Makes me nervous. How do you get around if you need groceries of supplies? 😮

The roads clear pretty fast so not really a problem.

Did you see my Clear Lake area, John. We have had a little water, as well. Tons. Partly cloudy today. Pull your pant legs up, if need be. 🙂

Us, too. Two hour delay for some schools yesterday. What a mess.

We are in a drought for heaven’s sake. It should behave like one.

And here I’ve got plans to come visit you. I shall bring my rubber ducky.

John, I’ve been hearing about your rain, and my heart goes out to you. After putting up with drought conditions, it must seem puzzling to suddenly have to beware the rising water levels. I hope you’ll soon be able to dry out — a bit — and not get any of that mess in your lovely home. We’re coming into a wet spell this weekend — just what the farmers don’t want, I imagine.

And just no way to get that out to California. What a shame!

Yeah. No way. I don’t have a bucket big enough

Looks like you’d have to take a dinghy to get to the beach, to catch another dinghy…

We actually can’t get to the beach. The dune walkover has a big lake blocking the path

Looks like you live in Charleston, John. This flooding stuff is regular for us. I live within feet of a marsh, and our parking lot and street flood all the time.

I have to send you condolences then. Have a great weekend
