Sunday – Fifty-Two Views of the Gulf

2015-06-06 08.11.32

We had a glorious week. The sun was out every day, and the water was as clear as a swimming pool. The winds were relatively calm, and so the daytime temperature of 85 degrees seemed even hotter. The water temperature is also 85 degrees, so it is like taking a bath in the Gulf. If you look very carefully you can see purple morning glories to the near right. I tried to get a little closer so they would show up. That car came into view just as I took the picture. Yes, driving on the beach is allowed (darn it). Way off in the distance you can see a boat hauling a barge. The little dot is the boat and the dash behind it is the barge.

last week’s scene wasn’t too much different although the winds made the wave action a little stronger.

  1. What a wonderful view to wake up to every morning. John, you’re doing retirement right! Hugs.

    1. Thank you. If I could shake this writing addiction maybe it would be righter.

  2. Interesting seeing the trails in the sand. Though I have to agree with you about the cars. Why would you drive such a nice car through the sand? That can’t be good for it. (I know very little about cars.)

  3. Looks like the car is posing for one of those car ads where they drive on traffic -free roads or off-road spaces.

    1. Doesn’t it? LOL

  4. Is that a picnic table and umbrella almost at water’s edge on the far left? If so, I bet a waiter just delivered a drinks order to that table. 😀 😀 😀

    1. That is a pop up and beach chairs. I think they hauled their own drinks

      1. I tried to give the car a reason for being there. 😀 😀

  5. Ah! The delights of summertime. The subtle splash of purple is nice.

    1. Hard to see in the photo though. In person they pop.

  6. John, I’m tickled that the weather finally settled down for you! It sounds practically perfect — minus the cars driving on the beach. The Mississippi Gulf Coast bans that, and for good reason. All that beautiful white sand would be a dump if people drove on it. Thanks for pointing out the morning glories and the barge (I hadn’t noticed them in my ire over the interlopers!!)

    1. I have the same ire, but this is Texas after all.

  7. I’ve gotta tell you, these are great photos, John. Oh, to have such a wonderful view as my backyard!

    1. Thanks Jack. I’m enjoying this series.
