Sunday – Fifty-Two Views of the Gulf

This week’s photo was taken about an hour earlier than usual. The sun is right up front in the picture and no way to avoid it. The seas are calm, and the wind is down to a reasonable amount. The calm waters reflect these conditions. The temp at the time of the photo was 64 degrees. The high today is expected to be about 68 degrees or so. We had the engineer from the city out on Friday, and the go-ahead was given to start the incursion onto the beach. The walkway will at the point of entry make a turn to the left for the final switch back. I hope to see some progress and be able to take a picture of it at that point. Here is a shot of where construction stood at the close of the workday Friday.

This is at the start of the crossover and the Gulf is straight ahead beyond the dunes.

Here is last week’s photo

  1. Looks very cheerful and promising, John! A gorgeous place to take the dog for a run early in the morning.

    1. At my age it has to be a walk, but yes you are right and we do it each morning.

  2. I’ll never get tired of your Gulf pictures.

    1. Thank you Phil. πŸ™‚ Made my day.

  3. John, that great big ball of sunshine is inspiring. Sunshine-super hugs! πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks, Teagan. HUGS to you.

  4. Love the hazy sun, John. Enjoy the Super Bowl!

    1. Thanks Jill. Hope you do as well. (Darned late start though)

      1. I’m taking tomorrow off from work…so I’ll be up. πŸ™‚

  5. Beautiful atmosphere there. Also, rather envious of the warmth.

      1. I’ll send ice cream too.

  6. Exquisite

    1. Thank you. Peaceful as well.

  7. Looks like a good start. Anything to carry you over those critters John.

    1. Thanks Dan. The critters can’t stand all the nice right now but later it will do the job.

  8. A magnificent sunrise. I smell the air, water and sand. A magical time of morning. ❀
Great to see progress in construction. Looks promising. πŸ˜€

    1. Yes it is. Happy day, Tess.

  9. That walk is really starting to shape up. It’s going to look lovely when finished. πŸ™‚ — Suzanne

    1. I think so. The nice part is will accommodate golf carts. Makes it easier cart all the beach stuff.

  10. So inviting… Have a spectacular Sunday, John! πŸ™‚

      1. Sunshine and glistening snow! πŸ™‚

      2. Keep those sun glasses on.

  11. Hi John,
    Today’s photo is simply WOW!
    Have a wonderful Sunday,

  12. Love the sunrise, John! πŸ’› The walkway is shaping up nicely, not too imposing! Safer for older walkers. Have a glorious Sunday! Elizabeth

    1. Thank you, Elizabeth. The older folks are me.

      1. Laughing…that would be me too! πŸ’›

  13. I love watching the progress of this project, John — thanks for going to the trouble of photographing it for us!

    1. No trouble at all. Thanks Debbie

  14. That first photo is gorgeous.

  15. What’s that big orange thing in the sky? It rings a vague bell, but it’s been so long I’ve forgotten…

    1. I can imagine. Never wetter than my trip to London. (Okay Seattle was wetter.)

      1. We’re in a considerably milder and drier climate in the South West, we get our weather via the Gulf Stream, but it’s pretty filthy out there at the moment. We’ve got 70 – 80mph winds today.

  16. I’ll never get tired of these, John.
