Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Prompt – “ART”

Stream Of Consciousness Saturday

It is Stream of Consciousness time again. This week’s prompt is “Art.” Linda Hill says we can use the word as it is or as a name. She also say’s we don’t have to draw. That is a big load off my mind since drawing is something I don’t do. If you would like to participate here is the link.Β

Art by John W. HowellΒ Β© 2016

“Yes, my man. What cam I do for you?”

“Huh? I was just wondering if this mess on canvas was art.”

“Oh, I thought you were asking me a question.”

“I don’t know you. My name’s Art.”

“Can you believe it. My name’s Art too.”

“Go on. What’s the chance of that?”

“Now what were you saying about the mess on canvas?”

“Well, I was wondering if these blobs of paint could be considered art.”

“I think we should ask the artist?”

“Do you know who did this atrocity?”

“I know the artist, yes.”

“Well, maybe we could ask if they consider this art.”

“Yes, we should ask?”

“No yes. It is art.”

“How do you know?”

“I’m Art, the artist.”

“Oops. I didn’t mean this mess was a mess.”

“No? What did you mean?”

“I guess I don’t like it very much.”

“You’ve made that clear.”

“Aren’t you mad?”

“Not really. You see this canvas was on the floor of my studio. My agent came in and the next thing I knew it was on the wall here in the gallery.”

“So you didn’t paint it?”

“No, I sorta slopped it.”

“What a relief. I enjoy your other works, and this was out of synch.”

“Well, They say art is in the eye of the beholder.”

“Is this for sale?”

“How much?”

“Fifty Thousand.”

“You’re kidding?”

“All the way to the bank Art.”

  1. You’ve summed up modern art perfectly John. No doubt someone will pay 50 thousand for it.

    1. Ha ha ha. Thanks Guy.:-)

  2. LOL! Great job, John! Happy Saturday!

    1. Happy Saturday to you* sung to the tune of Dream Baby by Roy Orbison.

      1. Nice! Thanks, John!

  3. Art wants to by Art’s art. Sounds like part of a Dr. Seuss book or something.

    1. catch 22 riff. Major Major Major.

  4. I can’t afford art you have to think about. Nicely done John. I only got lost once, but that’s because the “Art meets Art” scene reminded me of the part in “Gone in 60 Seconds” where “..two Rogers don’t make a right…” – I didn’t participate in SoCS, but someone let the voices out of their cage.

    1. Ha ha ha. Thanks, Dan

  5. All artists have to be jokers! πŸ˜‰

    1. Or something like that.

  6. Nothing like putting one’s foot in one’s mouth, John! Art is definitely in the eye of the beholder.

    1. So true, Debbie. Thanks for the visit.

      1. Sorry I haven’t been around lately. Up to my ears in alligators!!

  7. Another wonderful submission. If only you had the piece to share with us now. I’m trying to imagine how bad Art’s art was.

    1. I would say not too bad if it had a 50 G price tag.

  8. I’m still chuckling, John… very well done!πŸ˜„

    1. Thanks, John. Glad you liked it.

  9. The modern art world in a nutshell.
    Thanks, John.

    1. Ha ha ha. Thanks, Hook

  10. I love this! When I see certain pieces in museums, I usually wonder if I’m just too stupid to understand them, and then just move on to the next one…

    1. Yes, do not spend much time trying to figure out what the artist was trying to say. πŸ™‚

  11. Hahaha! Love it. And what are the chances? πŸ˜‰

      1. Right! πŸ˜€
