Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Prompt “Hair”

SOCS

It is Steam of Consciousness Saturday time again and this week’s prompt is “Hair.” Linda Hill, the master torturer at the Hill Dungeon of Prompts, says we can use the word any way we want and to have fun. This caused me to pause and wonder how many ways can I use the word “hair?” If you would like to also have these kinds of conundrums visit Linda’s post and read how. Here is the link. https://lindaghill.com/2017/02/03/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-feb-417/

Hair By John W. Howell © 2017

“Gimmie long lengths of hair. Shining, flaxen, waxen hair. Shoulder length or longer.”

“What are you singing?”

“The song from Hair.”

“Hair?”

“Yeah, the musical.”

“Oh. please. That old thing.”

“It’s a classic. Was a major Broadway production with nudity.”

“Nudity? You call weird flashlights nudity?”

“What do you mean?”

“The place was dark except for a few flashlights.”

“So what. The cast was necked.”

“You mean naked.”

“When a bunch of folks are without clothes and there is no swimmin’ hole, and it includes boys as well as girls that’s necked.”

“I see. Did you see the show?”

“Well no.”

“How come?”

“I was only ten when it came out.”

“How do you know about the nude scene then?”

“I read about it.”

“And the song?”

“Partridge Family sang it.”

“But you were little then,”

“I know. I had the record, though.”

“Could you understand what they were saying.”

“No, I just like the music.”

“Ever want to see the show?”

“I would now.”

“Why now?”

“You gotta ask?”

“Man you kill me sometimes. You can see more nudity at the park.”

“What park?”

“Let it go. I was just making a point.”

“Which is?”

“You are an idiot.”

LOL…of course the question would be, “What Park?” Another fun (and masterful) read…. 🙂

Think they made a movie based on the play. Good luck finding that park.

Thanks. Yes, they did make a movie. Might be Central Park.

I remember see it on the shelves of Hollywood Video. At least when it wasn’t rented out. People loved that movie.

Yeah. The good old days. Honestly, I’d say it was the best pre-author job I ever had.

I would think it would be pretty fun. I would enjoy matching the people with the movies they were checking out. 🙂

That gets a little disturbing at times. Though I did love trying to push the big release. Usually. Promoting a high action and sex Jason Statham movie to retirees isn’t easy.

Nicely done, John. I, too was too young to understand much of the hype around the show, but I wanted to see it anyway. Where is that park? Just curious.

Haha! Well, I made a pot of Tuscan style Ribollita Con Verdure — so that’s pretty healthful. But it did make for a scrumptious Saturday. And Crystal is enjoying Caturday on the electric throw. So it’s a good day. 🙂

Oh YUM on the Ribollita soup. Rachael Ray has an excellent recipe. Enjoy and I’m jealous. Clams linguini here.

I’d like to submit a formal request: a photo gallery on VIEWS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD of this fabled park, please! Thanks for the morning chuckles, John!

I’ll put your request to my producer. Do not sit in the bottom of a pool waiting for a favorable response. 🙂

Hair, not to be confused with Hairspray. I remember being surprised there was no nudity in the movie (though I saw it on television). Now I understand, it wasn’t the same movie. Good luck finding the park.

Thank you. Still looking. Yes, Hairspray was 100% nudity free.

Lewis Grizzard once said that “naked” means you ain’t got clothes on and “nekkid” means you ain’t got clothes on and you’re up to something.

It was The Cowsills, by the way…

I vaguely remember the uproar over the nudity in the musical. I was just a kid then. I love that song Hair.

I had all the Partridge Family Albums. Shock I wasn’t gaga over David Cassidy. Though he was “hot”. 🙂 I have been a fan of Shirley Jones since I first saw Oklahoma, and The Music Man so when I discovered it was her starring as the Mother, and there would be singing I was watching it and saving my allowance to purchase the albums.

I never bought the soundtrack to Hair though.

The best of comebacks. Giggling, and yet I so get this frustration. Sometimes being on the spinning merry-go-round gets old, however, I think rounds like this are hysterical.
